I own a 2012 SL with 21,500 miles on it. It was built in Dec 7th 2012 and I purchased the vehicle as a certified pre-owned from a Nissan dealer for $8,250.
The car was previously owned by a lady in my same town. Sunny Hot, Naples Florida. It was a lease.
When I bought the car it had 11 bars and showed full charge with 73 miles.
2 days later it dropped to 9 bars but still shows 73 miles on the gauge.
I just ordered an OBDII and LeafSpy pro, soon to find out what the numbers tell me.
Can anyone predict when I may see my 4 bar drop and if Nissan will for sure replace with 2016 24kwh battery pack?

I'm very new to this car and it's technology, please share anything I should know.
Wow...jumped from 11 bars to 9 in 2 days? I was bummed when mine dropped 1 bar from 11 to 10 in just over a month from purchase but never heard of a drop like you had. Sounds like it could be a battery defect instead of just capacity degradation. Keep us updated.

It's possible the bars were RESET by a nefarious dealer. There have been a few cases, documented here on MNL. Don't worry, if you dropped 2 bars in a day, and are down to 9, then you will easily lose the 4th by 2017. Keep driving it hard, charging hard, and keeping it warm. LeafSpy will give the definitive numbers, but I'm betting you're in line for a new battery.

Build nov 2012 with 21k miles and 9 bars.
GID 138, SOC 63.3, SOH 75%, AHr 49.40

What can I expect?
Location? You've got two summers to go, so it should be easy. The last bar varies, but anywhere from 42-44 AHr or so. Let's estimate that you have 7 AHr to lose. Throughout last summer, I lost about 0.012 AHr/d, with less than 7500 mi/yr driving in town and in the PNW. At that rate, it would take 600 days. I'm guessing that you're farther south and drive more miles, and use the freeways more than I do. You should be able to compress that down to less than a year. However, few people have reported losing bars during the winter, so I'll guess that you'll lose that on the morning of April 27, 2017 you'll wake up to an 8 bar car. ;)

I just bought a 2012 Leaf with 9 capacity bars. Here is the data from LeafSpy Pro:
70% SOC, AHr=44.84 SOH=68% Hx=47.45, ODO=37,220
Manufacture date: 1/30/2012
The car originally in Palmeto, FL and was just transferred to GA. I live in Atlanta area.
From reading the related posts, it seems like I'll be losing the 4th bar soon; hopefully before the end of 2016.
Is there anything I could be doing to accelerate the disappearance of the 4th bar?

My SV, built in January 2013, is still clinging to that fourth bar. I expected it to drop by now.

Aug 12, 2017 - AHr=39.25, SOH=60%, Hx=53.34%, odo=25,451 miles, QC=4 L1/L2=2119

Using 66.25 Ah as the original battery capacity and assuming your car's instrumentation is accurate, that indicates that your battery capacity has dropped to 59.2% of its original value. That is FAR below the 70% value that Nissan indicated was the target.

The good news is that it appears you will easily meet the criteria for a free warranty replacement battery.

Out of curiosity, what does the car say you have for range on a full charge with those numbers?

53 miles with AC on, 55 miles with AC off. It changed today when I did a status update. It has been showing 53 miles with AC on and 58 miles with AC off.

If this helps - I think you and setof4 both have 2013s that seem to drop bars at lower Ahr than average. That car's 10th bar dropped at 42.97Ahr, and you reported yours at 42.69 IIRC. setof4 lost their 4th bar at 40.05Ahr, so hopefully you're close!

Just dropped my 4th bar. Could not be happier about it. Here are my Leaf Pro Readings.
AHr=41.25, SOH=63, Hx=56.34
2013 SL with 36,680 miles

Yay! Approximately where are you located? What's the build month on your car? (That's on the driver's side door sticker.)

"Car was built in April 2013 and I'm in Portland OR. It was originally sold in SoCal market and I bought it Certified Pre Owned in Dec 2016. I knew that It had reduced capacity of 3 bars , but I took a chance and bought it , hoping that it would lose the fourth bar before the battery warranty was up. Looks like it paid off. I'll take it into the Dealer tomorrow to get the process going.

Was approved my Nissan, yesterday, for a replacement battery pack. Woo Hoo!

A warm couple of days (near 90), and my 2012 is now here, still with 9 bars:

40183 miles
43.43 Ahr
45.15 Hx
66% SOH

12 out of 70 (17%) reported 2011/2012 9-bar losers lost the bar > 43.40 Ahr, so I'm finally getting into the ballpark; now it's a race against time vs. the cold Minnesota winter and the February 1 warranty expiration date... 2 more hot days in the forecast. ;)
Hopefully mine's not one of those cars that hangs on down to the mid-40 Ahr readings.

I checked it again today. I went across town on some errands, hit LBW at 30% SOC on the display as I pulled into the driveway.
Sep 15, 2017 - AHr=38.60, SOH=59%, Hx=51.70%, odo=25,517 miles, QC=4 L1/L2=2175

I hit the timer over-ride and plugged it in for a charge. I went and checked it again after it was done charging.
Sep 15, 2017 - AHr=38.17, SOH=58%, Hx=51.70%, odo=25,517 miles, QC=4 L1/L2=2176

It's still holding on to that fourth bar...
