I know that this will be like porn for some of you. You know who you are...

I was [somewhere] today and an AV Quick Charger had its front cover open for some diagnostics. And me with my camera.

Well... I don't know what any of this stuff is inside there, but I know that some of you will. Enjoy!

Very Nice! Thanks for sharing your private Quick Charge p0rn. Hope you don't mind if I use that QC someday!

LOL!

BTW, I don't know why I'm only just seeing this thread, but something may be amiss with the board software. I've now deleted the new thread I made with the same subject matternjust a little while ago.

I must have missed this QC at the expo. Too bad they're not likely to leave it behind for our general consumption after the show...

This one is in a city vehicle parking area away from the main parking lot. Apparently, Nissan has taken (IMO, an unfair amount of) flak for using it at other events, so they now keep it tucked away.

However, I'm of the opinion that it's necessary for the event, and that it should be viewed in the following light - realacpower.com brought a mobile level 3 quick charger to the Mitsu i event, and the operator told me that he can recharge the i to 80% on one gallon of diesel fuel. Bearing in mind that you have a real world range in the i of around 70 miles when full (62 miles EPA, which as we all know is conservative), you're talking about a return of around 56mpg. And, of course, there will be similar numbers for the LEAF (though I haven't crunched them yet).

Better, of course, would be to have the generator fueled with B99 bio-diesel, if possible. And while I didn't check to see if it was so in this case, I can't imagine that's not completely feasible, subject to a local supply.

Wow! thanks for those photos! The rectifier diodes must be behind the panel, I would like to see that part of it.
As a systems/product engineer I design and oversee building of lots of custom control cabinets used in the maritime industry. I must say that is one sloppy ugly mess of assembly wiring! There is no way that would pass QC in my shop!
There is no cabinet power interlock or any high voltage warnings. Just a small locking handle to keep people out and probably one key fits all. Looks like you can easily come into contact with high voltage DC with no insulation or covers. None of the conductors are labeled, some are too short and pulled tight across wireways.
I could go on and on the more i look, but this is too much like work on my day off.

The guys in my shop got a big laugh looking at the workmanship of this unit
UL approved this?? Hope it works better than it looks.

I just canceled my Viagra order ..Those AV QC pics are just so stimulating to look at..Im kind of amazed that they do not put a curtain around it when opening the AV box..I don t want my child seeing that thing exposed in public

Thanks for the pics ..I was wondering what a $50k charger looks like inside..
