New member here, and hopefully soon new-to-me Leaf owner, too. I need some help from a kind individual in the Leaf community with a vehicle inspection.

I have found two very similarly equipped 2012 Nissan Leaf SL's I am interested in purchasing but they are together at a broker in Sunnyvale, CA, and I'm in Denver, CO. Of course I would be glad to compensate you ($$) for your vehicle expertise and your usage of LeafSpy to examine the battery packs. I have CARFAX reports on both vehicles. I could hire an independent inspection company, and would do so if I was buying an ICE vehicle, but I'm skeptical of their ability to thoroughly assess an all-electric car.

Any help from the Leaf community would be greatly appreciated!!

So I talked to three different Bay Area vehicle pre-purchase inspectors. None of them have a clue how to check battery health of an electric vehicle; one even said he just follows the same checklist as an ICE car and skips over the non-applicable parts. Yikes! When I called a local Nissan dealer, they would gladly do a pre-purchase. It's expensive and done by factory trained technicians, so it's gotta be thorough, right? Nope! When pressed for details they admitted to only looking at the number of bars on the dash and using the GOM to estimate battery health. Seriously??

I'm reaching out to the Facebook page of the SF Bay Area Nissan Leaf Owners (BayLeafs) to see if someone can assist:

A kind individual from the BayLeafs has offered to help me evaluate these vehicles using an OBD II adapter and LeafSpy. Thanks to everyone that read this post.

Hopefully I'll be driving my new LEAF soon!

Cool, glad that worked out for you.
I am still looking for my 2013 Leaf. Though I am in the Sacramento market, I am also looking in the Bay Area for just the car I want. In the process I came across an add on craigslist for someone offering (for a small fee) to inspect the car using his Leafspy etc. I just might inquire on his services (thinking it might be the same person who assisted you).
