I considered myself more right libritarian, but my score:

economic = -1.25
social = -1.64

puts me pretty close to the middle (or just confused!)

Wow, my dot essentially landed on top of Nader; guess I shouldn't be so quick to dismiss him just because of some of his more outspoken publicity/public awareness campaigns..

Interesting to note that all our political leaders from "libertarian" Paul to "socialist" Obama are all in the opposite quarter i.e. authotitarian, conservative quarter.

It is interesting. From what I've read, those in the lower left don't vote as regularly (or at all) compared to those in the upper right. Second, the majority of corporate CEOs politically are in the upper right and their companies spend a lot of money on campaigns for candidates in the far upper right. This will increase given the Supreme Court ruling allowing corporations to spend unlimited funds on political campaigns.

Not me: I vote like it's a religion!

But, why does a corporation get to spend as much as they want on a political campaign when I'm limited to, what was it? $1000 per candidate? Corporations under the law represent 1 person with no direct voting right. It's weird, but that's the way it is. I don't like it, but I guess we have to live with it. Too bad not enough of us "Greens" vote, though! Come on, people! Let's make voting a religion!

Me:

ELR: -7.00
SLA: -5.54

Not too surprising to me.

I've been active on several forums over the years relating to such diverse topics as cars, photography and even ocean cruising! I knew that this forum would attract like-minded people, but topics such as this really reinforce that this is the most like-minded group in which I've ever participated.

It's a pleasure to "serve" with you all!

I think it's interesting how the term Liberal has been vilified in the U.S. over the years. I suspect a large majority of Americans don't really know what Liberal means. It means one who advocates freedom i.e. liberties. The kind of stuff the nation is based on. The Statute of Liberty could be called the Statute of Freedom, for example. So the opposite of Liberal is Conservative? Buzz wrong, sorry thanks for playing. The opposite of Liberal is Authoritarian. The actual opposite of Conservative is Progressive.

And voting HAS to be a civic duty!

I think we should be required to vote, but every voting item contains at least one other option: "None of the above."

The nice thing about the United States is that we can vote "None of the above." by choosing to not going to the polls. The bad thing about the United States is that people who do have an opinion but are too busy to vote don't vote.

In Australia, you are fined if you don't vote. I like this in principle but if you give people the option to vote "None of the above."
