Side Impact: What's Next?

Unfortunately, I was in a collision this past Friday. Whilst exiting a roundabout, I was side-swiped by an older Zafira. The damage included the entire passenger side, including sizable dents and scratches in the doors. The running board also looks out of sorts and I'm concerned that the frame or battery pack may have been compromised. The body shop assessor took photos today and I am awaiting the repair estimate. Has anyone else had side damage that looked superficial and turned out to be something more? Car is a 2015 Tekna with 52K miles.

I had side damage that I thought might get the car totaled, but it wasn't even close to that. The driver's door was pushed in about 6".
