Hey Leafers!

Quick question. I live in an area of Japan where we get loads of snow. We have a designated spot on our street where snowplows will come to take the snow away if we can get it there. Up until now I've been pushing snow there by hand, but I was wondering about the viability of this:

-Attach a tarp/blue sheet to the tow hook.
-Throw a couple hundred pounds of snow on the tarp
-Drive slowly over to the designated pile and then manually unload with shovels.

Seems like it wouldn't hurt...but then I don't know what kind of weird loads that might put on the car or whatever.

Any ideas?

Snow really doesn't like to be pulled on a tarp. The tarp will likely rip or the snow will fall off before you get too far.

Have you considered pulling a small two-wheeled cart with the Leaf? Something like this would easily dump snow and also be useful in the summer.

Yes, I think the only tow hook is the one in the front bumper. I was thinking of using some thick rope and going through all the holes in the tarp, then connected to the tow hook. And just going like 5-6 shovelfuls of snow at a time. At the moment, it's pretty thick and heavy, so even shovelling or pushing the snow on the ground is pretty tough.

Worth a try I suppose. The tow hook should be pretty stout as it is designed to be used to pull the leaf onto or out of. Are you thinking of driving the car in reverse with the load?

I've mixed different composts and soil on a tarp 8 feet by 8 feet and tore through two of those blue plastic tarps. I would expect the grommets on the tarp would probably tear out if you tried the snow. A hitch and small wagon would probably be better - link to hitch: http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=7829" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

How about this?

The 6’7” Auto Plow works great on most passenger cars and SUV’s. It attaches to your car in a minute with no hassle — it only weights 52lbs! Simply drag it to the front of your car, attach the 4 straps and 2 bungee cords, and start plowing from the warmth of your car! Finally, you don’t have to own a truck to plow your driveway!

Oh my....soooo tempting if winters keep up like the last two have been. It's had more snow than my little blower can deal with.
