Oh, Kevin, so you work at Pohanka Lexus in Chantilly now? Sweet. All you NoVa folks: I'm working on a NoVa, or Greater DC depending on interest, LEAF Owners Meetup where we can talk shop (probably not through meetup.com; why spend $72 every 6 months just to coordinating a monthly meeting when I used to do that on Yahoo for free!). Will probably post details on the website so keep an eye out!
Oh, and I wanna chime in: VA $25 incentive? Since when. Here's your list of VA incentives:
In Loudoun county, the car tax rate goes from $4.20 to $2.00 per $100. And you can use any toll-based or uncommon HOV lane in the Commonwealth; but not I395 or I95 or I66; only 2001 Priuses can use those!
In Fairfax county, you get to pay the full $4.57 property tax rate per $100 on a $37,000 car before the credit since the Commonwealth doesn't take the credit into account when computing Car Tax. I'm working on a piece for the site that those of you in Fairfax County can join me in getting the Board of Supervisors to enact ASAP: $2.25 in 2012; $2.50 in 2013; $3.00 in 2014 and $4.00 in 2015 and then you can remove the EV subsidy after 5 years since by then the prices should hopefully have come down enough to equalize the price to the level of how cheap hybrids were in 2006 when the first HOV limit was enacted. I've written to the County Commissioner of Finances for property taxes to get an estimate of how such a tax change would effect revenue but haven't heard back yet. It's election season and no candidate has expressed a leaning toward or against EV issues. I'm splitting my ticket but since Caren Merrick's campaign hasn't responded to me during any of the repeated times I've explained the HOV issue, she for one does not have my vote!
