For those of you in Texas, or who want to travel to the Lone Star State, the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is hosting Plug-In 2012 in San Antonio in a little over 2 weeks.

Dan Davids, past president of Plug In America and Gina Copland-Newfield, Director of Green Fleets & Electric Vehicles Initiative for the Sierra Club will be on a panel about "Plug In Electric Vehicle Advocacy" with Ben Holland of the Rocky Mountain Institute and Roger Duncan at the University of Texas. Here is a list of all workshop speakers: http://plugin2012.com/breakout-session" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Plenary speakers are listed here: http://plugin2012.com/plenary-sessions" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Plug-In 2012's Public Night, only $10 per person, gives you a chance to see all the vehicles and EVSE on the exhibit floor, then join a Q&A panel discussion that's sure to be lively. Moderated by Chelsea Sexton, the candid back-and-forth will explore what's here, what's coming, and what still needs to happen to keep plug-ins on the road for good. For more details, click on Public Night at the bottom of the event's homepage here: http://plugin2012.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If you haven't been to this conference, it's well worth attending. Chelsea is always a lively speaker, and Dan Davids is one of the movement's brightest stars. His work helping both Hawaii and Washington get ready for EVs has been stellar. Gina is rather new to EVs having been involved for a little over two years, but her advocacy within the Sierra Club has turned that giant organization from being somewhat negative toward the technology to being a very strong proponent.

Gina is also heading up the Sierra Club's National Plug In Day scheduled for September 23rd. Plug In America and the Electric Auto Association are co-sponsors of that initiative. More on NPID in a later post as we firm up venues in various cities around the country.
