Sorry for not being clear. I called Tony, when I got it working, that is how he knew what I was talk about.
I am looking for someone with a dual charger model S to try my EVSE setup at my house in Temecula. I am in plugshare Philip C. email or call.

Still on the fence about reserving one. The P85 wait times have come down to under two months. Lots of P60s out of the door lately. A few new questions.

1) Differences between the performance and non performance models.

2) Phantom power draw (battery TMS) overnight (some remnants of the NYT review)

3) Regen on a full charge in cold weather.

The Leaf is looking better for (2) and (3), based on my limited information.

Rgaeding (3), how so? My Leaf has NO regen at all when the battry is full and when it's cold I sometimes won't get any regen before SOC dips below 70% or so.

I posted my thoughts on what EV manufacturers could do to solve this problem. With this solution, the vehicle would always provide the full-regen feel even with a full battery. I wonder if any of them would be inclined to implement it.

FYI, in all the MS shorthands, I've always assumed that the P in the P85 was for the performance model (which is how Tesla is badging them now) - in that case, there's P85, 85, 60 and 40. No P60... :D

If you don't find anyone before the first week in May, I can help you test it out... :)

Woo Hoo !!! I just drove by my neighbor's house, and now I find myself peeking in to see if his Model S is there. That blue almost looks black with no sun on it.

I'm glad that the graphic's available (and it actually came from another source). I don't follow the gas2.org site nor the above author and am not a fan of him. See below as to why:
http://priuschat.com/threads/prius-outdoes-hummer-in-environmental-damage.29684/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (him echoing the now thoroughly debunked CNW junk science, his "article" at http://web.archive.org/web/20070315182343/http://clubs.ccsu.edu/recorder/editorial/editorial_item.asp?NewsID=188" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

If anyone listens to Rush Limbaugh..

He read excerpts from an article I wrote this morning on his talk show. Prius outdoes Hummer in enviromental damage, by Chris DeMorro...
(further down, in another post)
I have no idea how Rush found it. It was printed in our college paper and on the website, and then I got a frantic call from a buddy this morning telling me it was on Rush. Hell, I threw the paper together in 1/2 hour of being bored. I was just having fun lol.
In his pseudo-retraction at http://web.archive.org/web/20080115062736/http://clubs.ccsu.edu/recorder/editorial/editorial_item.asp?NewsID=203" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, he still got his facts wrong claiming the Tesla Roadster costs $30K.

If one still cares about the CNW junk science that refuses to die, see http://prius.wikia.com/wiki/Environmental" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

What am I missing? Does the previous post have anything to do with the Tesla Model S?

Also, rather old stuff.
It's my issue w/Chris DeMorro, in general and that he writes for gas2.org. Hence, I don't bother any paying attention to that site or his writings.

Just something to keep in mind if you ever come across his writings or ever browse that site... Unfortunately, the rather old junk science STILL refuses to die, to this day.

I guess we all go off topic at times, but that rant seems a bit out of place for a Model S thread. Whatever.

Quite the review from Road & Track:

This is in the April 2013 print edition, with a February 25,
2013 date on the online link:

Return to Power: the 2013 Tesla Model S
The Performance model lives up to its name By Jason Cammisa
February 25, 2013 / Photos by Eric McCandless

Some quotes:

"...It's the most important car America has made in an
entire lifetime. ..."

"....The Tesla Model S is the first electricity-powered car
that genuinely competes with a similar gasoline-powered car:
in speed, in everyday usability, and especially in
price...."

obscure but interesting-to-me comment on the tech side of things:

"...Tesla wisely decided against a blended brake system,
forgoing the cost, complexity, and miserable brake feel that
plagues almost every electric or hybrid-electric vehicle on
the road. Instead, fully releasing the accelerator pedal
engages a user-selectable amount of regeneration. The
immediate benefit of the setup is that it leaves a
conventional braking system attached to the pedal; a
secondary benefit is that, in normal driving, you only
occasionally need to move your foot to the left pedal.
..."

Just found out that my preferred town car service in the Bay Area, Quicksilver, now has a Tesla Model S in their fleet. Ideal for those of us who don't want to use gasoline even when it's someone else doing the driving. :D
