Here is from Nissan USA customer support after an emailed question:

...with CarWings, the LEAF can be tracked if stolen. CarWings is standard with all LEAFs and is free for 3 years. If you chose to pay for it afterwards there will be a price to do so given to you at that time. The tracking is like using a reverse GPS. You can find out more information on our website, if your insurance company needs more details.

And from a Nissan Japan webpage on the ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) as linked by other poster in another thread:

It might not be obvious from first reading of user manuals, or first usages of the LEAF interfaces, but if an engineer has remotely linked in the onboard GPS readouts of the NAV system to determine performance, then the tracking of a stolen LEAF could be done. This fact, along with the advertised security feature of a remote vehicle imobilization feature could qualify as a good security discount with insurance companies.
The ITS might not be fully implemented at any future time in any country, but it certainly illustrates future possible features.

So if the key fob stays in your pocket when you get carjacked does the Leaf shut down as they drive away?
Maybe the plan would be if you suspect something (like bump from the rear) is to stop and turn off the vehicle. Any issues you could just run.
Any Nissan with an I-key will continue to run after started, even if the key has left the vehicle. It will obviously not restart without the key. If your car is on when you exit the vehicle with the key, you will hear three short beeps.

Can the LEAF's Immobilizer System be triggered remotely?
I suspect it can do much more than we currently see.

For example, there is bi-directional Audio between the telematics (TCU) and the main console.
I'd imagine that's there for something. Maybe an OnStar-like service?

The TCU can wake the whole car and send messages to the VCM, which is connected to every part of the car. I would assume that anything is possible.

It has a USB connection to the Nav console, which has GPS, so all kinds of geofencing and data reporting would be possible.

I don't think you are going to see many high speed extended pursuits in a Leaf so it's unlikely it has that provision...

GM On* has a engine kill ability over the air. If the police approve (IIRC), GM onstar people can slowdown/stop the engine. Not sure whether carwings has that ability.
