I found an interesting webservice browsing through Flipboard this evening. One can view DOT traffic cameras on the LEAF Nav Screen using RSS feeds customized in CarWings.

Service started up in Nashville (165 Cams) and is now adding cams in Portland OR/Vancouver.

I found the images displayed a little small, with a little too much self advertising, but a useful service nonetheless. Can't complain at the price. (Free).

........Coming next to a location near you LEAFPorn (tm)

I've actually been experimenting with this to view my cameras at home, but between delays etc, haven't found it useful yet. Need to do some more testing/tuning tho.

Hello Leaf family, it's Richard from Leafcamview.com JPWhite; I've admired your blog and was trying to figure out how to get in contact with you. I'm so glad you all have found Leafcamview.

This service is obviously just getting off the ground, and aside from the expectation of enormous riches, our goal is to provide a useful and enjoyable communications tool.

We've done a good job of coverage of Nashville DOT cameras and Brentwood city traffic cameras (hello Maryland Way). Soon to follow; the rest of Portland DOT, and some Research Triangle Park, NC.

There is no way to add your own camera right now. It's fairly easy for us to add one, but 'LeafPorn' is definitely something we want no part of, and if it ever comes in to being is almost guaranteed to get Nissan to crack down on technology enthusiasts like ourselves who want to be part of building useful services on the platform. So the idea of letting just anyone create a link could be ripe for abuse.

More soon...
