Late 2012's; Heat Pump? or not until 2013MY started?

Can someone point me to a thread or information about whether the Heat Pump was incorporated late in the 2012MY or not until 2013MY started? If it is in late '12, how can it be identified? Is there a designation on a VIN code, on a spec plate on the car, by looking for certain visible objects in the car, on the original window sticker?
