I think it is the LEAF that decides to stop the Quick-Charging (or not)
at 80%, not anything within the QC itself, right?

Correct, except for the Blink units that allow you to control when they stop charging.

During a QC, it appears that the LEAF outputs a "Charge Progress" value,
which appears to rise to about 0xE0 (224) to indicate 100% full.

It would appear (conjecture) that the QC machine scales this value
to display its Progress Bar.

Personally I would not use a DC fast charger at work. L2 can refill the whole battery during a normal workday. All you gain by using DC fast charging is to age your battery faster.

I do want Fast DC chargers installed but not for my daily commute.
