Can new Leaf drive on CA HOV lane?

Just got my Leaf from dealer, no license plate yet, can not apply for white sticker without license number.

Can I drive it on HOV lane now, or need to wait for the white sticker?

you can drive in the HOV lane, but if you are alone in the car, you have no defense against a ticket.

Same as any vehicle until you get the stickers attached.

That often works, but if the dealer sits on the paperwork, you might end up getting your application returned...arguably you're no worse off for trying.

Have you heard of any applications being returned?

I suspect that they just hold the application until
the car's DMV record shows that a plate has been
assigned, and issued to the car's owner.

I am in the same boat, but not going to take a chance on min. 281$ ticket for HOV violation.

The dmv website specifically says to have the permanent license plate before applying.
