Can my plug (wall outlet) get rained on?

Hi everyone. I bought a LEAF 2 days ago and have a question. I am trickle charging my LEAF at home in my garage and at work during the day. The problem is that at work I am plugging into a light pole that has a regular wall outlet at the bottom. Can my plug (NOT the end that goes into the car) get wet? Can the long black power cord that says "ready", "charge" "fault" get wet??

I am also trickle charging my new leaf, I have had it for a month now.I have gone out in the rain with my extension cord to charge my car. I have not any problems and left the charger on all night with it pouring rain.just as long as the part that is plug into a regular socket does not get wet your safe.
