Discuss data from the LEAF Battery app, and Comparisons

Mike, I've been primarily offline for a couple weeks and missed your 20 Oct 15 loss notice until today. Congratultions on your new battery at the beginning of the cold season! Not staring at 50 miles range after 100% charge will be a great pleasure and running the heater without undue concern...

LED Low Beam Headlight failed, now what?

Our 2011 had the left headlight assembly replaced because of a broken mount tab. Everything worked when it was removed. I kept the original assembly "just because", but would donate it to your cause to clean off my work bench. Perhaps you can dissect it for the bulb you need or repair it for...

Discuss data from the LEAF Battery app, and Comparisons

No idea how long it took to drop from 44 Ahr, but losses during the winter were zero or very, very small. I was amazed, however, at how quickly Ahr were shed as the weather warmed AND recovered as it temporarily cooled again. 2 weeks and 500 miles are approximate numbers, but likely not too...

Discuss data from the LEAF Battery app, and Comparisons

Mike, I realize that temperatures were on the increase in June rather than decreasing here at the start of Fall, but the commonality is that our battery capacity at 55,000 miles began to swing quickly up and down with the temperature changes... at least much more than I had noticed before...

Update on Nissan LEAF Battery Replacement

Our's was replaced under warranty in June. It took about a week for the new battery and modified 2011 installation kit to arrive. We got the car back the day after we dropped it off for the replacement. Capacity per Leaf DD has remained constant since replacement, but m/kWh has slightly...

Worth it for a 2013 SV from Nissan Dealer?

The battery capacity indication is the outer or right side set of bars. The adjacent left bars (SOC) always rise to 12 (2 red + 10 white) on 100% charge. The right side (Capacity) drops the first bar at 15% capacity loss and 6.25% for each following bar. This capacity indication does not go...

Newbie intro and a question on Lizard battery

Our 2011 LEAF battery was replaced this June with a 2015 Lizard battery manufactured 5/15/15. We live in Palmdale, the western end of the Mojave Desert, and have been experiencing daytimes highs in the low 100s. Our battery's delivered capacity, per LeafDD, was 66.1414kWh and has not yet...

    Juicebox or ClipperCreek HCS-40

^^^ I think you'll find the primary MNL opinion to be that Clipper Creek is a box that can be relied upon to charge your LEAF. They are a more established company and seem to have worked out the bugs that haunt new-starts. Having said this, be aware that we have used our upgraded 2011 Nissan...

Amended Settlement in Klee v. Nissan

Thanks for the feedback. Leaf DD reports our new battery SOC in lower 90s also, but I didn't have that data when the car was new so I can't directly compare. Based on the first 1000 miles, range seems to be a bit higher and that makes me glad, but it may be due to better driving technique...

Amended Settlement in Klee v. Nissan

+1 Our 2011 battery was replaced under warranty 4 weeks ago with a 2015 "Lizard battery" manufactured 5/5/15. I'm still waiting for all the data to stabilize, but Leaf DD shows capacity steady at 66.1414 AHrs and 100% GIDS between 265 and 271. Seems low on GIDS for the much higher new AHr...

    Annual battery check runaround

We've not experienced a similar situation, each time just dropping the car off with whatever charge it had, but usually over 80%. Results have always been the same with 5 stars in all catagories. I've not read differently here in MNL and the check seems mostly to be a download to Nissan, not a...

    Post Your Battery Degradation Results

Once our higher summer temperatures arrived and stayed, TBs maintained mostly at 6 and our capacity melted away at .02-.03 Amphr per day. Looks like you'll qualify within the warranty period.

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

I was unable to confirm part numbers before catching the morning shuttle home, but the parts worker was able to read "5/15/15" on the side of the crate. The mechanic called at 4:45pm to say that the new battery was in, but "had come with only a 2% charge" and would continue L2 charging...

    Silly idea?

With a system already on your home, it may be possible to increase power by adding panels even with a 7000W inverter already. If not, the orientation of your carport should have the roof sloping south with minimal shade. As the previous commenter said, size the port for roof and panel weight...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

I think the important issue here is to make sure one can properly prove the car's configuration, especially the battery, in the event of an accident. I appreciate the three prior comments and will make sure this is noted in the service record and in my collection of paperwork.

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

The dealer called yesterday to say that "both packages, the new battery and the misc parts", were delivered on the morning truck. The first available single day install appointment is tomorrow, so I'll have the car there at 0700. Before I cut them loose on the work, I'll confirm the received...

Rain X on the backup camera

Rain X, under another name, was originally developed for the military for use on glass windscreens but was later adopted for curved non-glass canopys on the F-111. I got with the manufacturer, Raychem, and determined that the formulation and solvents should have no longterm adverse effects on...

185 100% charge GIDS for battery replacement

Don't count on a firm Gid total to erase the 4th capacity bar, but your calculated number is in the right neighborhood. Battery Amp hours at 100% charge have ranged from the lower 42s to upper 43s. Your mileage may vary.

dhanson865 PMed me some instructions on updating the Wiki, but I haven't tried them yet. I'll forward them to you. Good luck!
