    The Battery Replacement Thread

    My Leaf did have a battery check once every calendar year, but not all of them were before the yearly date. The dealer never informed to me that the battery checks were a requirement for my battery to be eligible for replacement when I did take it in for replacement. The only reason the...

    The Battery Replacement Thread

    I'm actually in Arizona, where I think we ended up being the true guinea pigs for this car. I didn't have a deadline for replacing the battery, but I figured I should get it done now before the summer heat hits here in Arizona. I've had the car a month shy of 4 years now. Even though I still...

    The Battery Replacement Thread

    I became a member of the 4 bar loss club on Jan 5th. The Leaf Spy stats for the battery at the time of loss were: 24,532 miles SOC=79.9% SOH=65% AHr=43.14 385.7V Hx=44.65% 1435 L1/L2 charges (99.9% were L2) I've still been able to get at least 40 miles of range on an 80% charge, so I wasn't...

    After 3 Years +++++++++++++++++++

    I'm sorry to hear that you are getting less than 50 miles of range to VLBW on a 100% charge. It's amazing how much a person's typical daily commute directly correlates to the range you can get in a Leaf. My Leaf is at 71% battery capacity, nearing the warranty threshold, and I can still get...

    After 3 Years +++++++++++++++++++

    I'm tempted to call them and see what $2000 actually buys. For 2012 and 2013 model years, the battery is listed at $4300.

    After 3 Years +++++++++++++++++++

    My Leaf will turn 3 in March, and except for battery degredation, no issues to report other than some wear on the interior fabric. I live in Phoenix, so I'm getting close to loosing my 4th bar (will probably happen this coming June). I'm almost to 20,000 miles after 33 months, so I'm hopeful...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

    Doh! I missed that in my post. I lost my third capacity bar this past June. At the time it disappeared, my gidmeter reported that the battery only charged to 166 gids on an 80% charge.

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

    Just posting an update on a Phoenix Leaf owner for comparison out there. I have owned my 2011 Leaf for a few days more than 29 months. (Drove it home 3/31/11). I have only driven 17300 on my Leaf, my average daily commute during the work week is 27 miles. I currently am getting 160-161 gids on...

    Using clone ELM327 Bluetooth OBDII adapter with Leaf

    Congrats to everyone who worked to make the app possible!! I downloaded the 0.23 app this evening and had it working with my new scanner in less than 5 minutes. I ordered the recommended Vgate ELM327 mini ODB Scanner from Amazon. It was only $12!! This is an awesome addition to my car and will...

    Meeting with Nissan, Phoenix, Jan 8, 2013, 6pm, drinks prior

    I'm not even talking about dipping into the reserve percentage here. When I charge my car to 80% and the gauge says I have 74 miles of range in ECO mode, that's a total lie. The calculations the software uses for determining remaining range have no basis in reality or even previous driving...

    Meeting with Nissan, Phoenix, Jan 8, 2013, 6pm, drinks prior

    To me job #1 should be to fix the software. From the town hall meeting, it sounds like applying the MY 2013 software to our cars is not going to be fix we are hoping for. I've completely given up on using the GoM and only use my gidmeter and Tony's range chant to determine how far I can drive...

    Meeting with Nissan, Phoenix, Jan 8, 2013, 6pm, drinks prior

    My bet is that part of the reason for changing the parking brake pedal was to move the brake from the rear to the front wheels to make room for the inductive charger on future MY Leafs. I didn't take a look under the 2013 to see if it's true or not, but on 2011/2012 the brake actuator takes up...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

    I wonder if it's taken from early Japanese Leaf marketing materials. That number makes more sense if it's in km and not miles: 132 km = 82 miles. But even 82 miles on 8 bars is still high.

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

    Count me as another low-mileage 2 bars lost owner. I lost my 2nd bar last week at ~9950 miles. It was almost two months after loosing my 1st bar on 6/15. I've had my Leaf now for almost 18 months. Interestingly enough, the drop in temperatures the past couple of days has allowed for an...

    Sweet!!! Thanks for posting the location of the DC charger. I live just east of 101 and Elliot, good to know there's a QC near me now.

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

    Add me to the 11 bar list. I should have reported it sooner on this thread. I live in the Phoenix area, and I saw my Leaf drop to 11 bars around June 15th at ~8500 miles and ownership time of 14.5 months.

    I have noticed the same thing when I use the pre-cooling in my car. My garage is still in the 90s in the morning, and the cabin doesn't get as cold as I would expect. According to the user's manual, the A/C temp for the pre-cooling is set at the factory and cannot be changed. But it doesn't...

    Unfortunately not. It was a couple weeks ago that my co-worker heard this. This definitely needs some more investigation in my opinion. Today between 1pm and 5:30pm my car lost 1 bar but gained 2 miles of range according to the dashboard. I keep forgetting to run a Carwings update throughout...

    Yes, I have seen quite a bit of variance in the estimated range this past week, even though my daily commute is the same. On the days it was over 110, at the end of my 30 mile daily usage, the remaining range was around 20-25 with SOC of two bars. And I have seen my range estimate drop during...

    I bought my Leaf through Power Nissan of Chandler. I think one of the reasons they threw it in for free was that the car already had the Perma Plate sticker on the window when I first saw the car at the dealer, so I'm betting they used the polymer wax when they washed and prepped the car when...
