Are you planning to reserve Tesla Model 3 ?

I think you meant "early 2018" - or maybe even 2019. The first deliveries aren't projected until late 2017, and Tesla is famously very optimistic on their projections.

    Prospective Used Leaf Buyer

Tesla has pulled the plug (pun intended) on their "cheap" CPO cars. Now they start in the mid to high $60k range. https://www.teslamotors.com/models/preowned?source=models-features0&type=preowned

    Prospective Used Leaf Buyer

With any kind of charge, Level 1 or 2, during the day while you're at work, you won't have any problem with this commute for a long time, if ever. In 4-6 hours of trickle charging, you'll be adding 12-20 miles of range back into your battery for the trip home.

    Enphase field MTBF: M190: ~36 Years M215: ~316 Years M250: >357 Years

Enphase has always paid the installer directly, and I'm sure that the installer wouldn't be doing it for free. They are a licensed electrical contractor, with no reason to be doing it gratis, since they didn't do the original install. I believe that Enphase was paying the installer $150 for...

    Enphase field MTBF: M190: ~36 Years M215: ~316 Years M250: >357 Years

Yes. My original installer pulled out of the DFW market, and Enphase sent me a list of local authorized installers. I picked one, and they have replaced all 15 of my M190s that have failed over the last 2 years. The first 14 were initiated by me, Enphase shipped me the replacement and I...

Turning heater on when powertrain is off

You don't say why you don't want the car in "ready" mode just to run the heater, but assuming you're away from your EVSE and worried about running down the battery, stop worrying. The car uses negligible power when not moving, except for the HVAC systems. The only noticeable power usage will...

After 5 years, it finally left me stranded....

After 5 years, you watch the GOM? Why weren't you watching the % charge remaining?

    Enphase field MTBF: M190: ~36 Years M215: ~316 Years M250: >357 Years

I lost another inverter at the first of the month, and when I couldn't get through to them on the phone, I reported it online on January 7 and received this boilerplate reply, giving me hope that a replacement might soon be on its way (bolding mine): When I hadn't heard from them in ten days...

6.6 kw onboard needs what at home?

I agree with this post. Try your current ESVE for a while before spending any money on an upgrade. Unless you have a real need to top off your charge during the day, you should be fine.

    Leaf S Charge Timer

I wouldn't spend too much additional time worrying about this. If you charge 2 kWh every day at the higher rate, it's less than $2.00 a month. (2 kWh x 30 days x .03 = $1.80)

    Designated Residential EV Parking Spot?

OP, assuming you are using the included L1 EVSE, why not get a good, heavy duty extension cord? That should open up several more parking spots, and you will only use it when you need it, and it sounds like that's infrequent. Of course, you run the risk of aggravating your neighbors by taking...

    Enphase field MTBF: M190: ~36 Years M215: ~316 Years M250: >357 Years

I've just replaced two more Enphase units with M190240-M190IG-R replacements. That makes 14 of of 23 failures to date. I think I am line 88 on your spreadsheet. One difference this time: when I called CS for some help in updating my array in Enlighten Manager, the greeting said that homeowners...

    Looking for a leaf

You are not going to need to charge very much at home. On your trip to to work, you should end up with more charge than you started with. I think that if you charge up to 50% at home, you should be adding only about 4-6 kWh overnight = $1.25. You'll get to work with more than 50% in the battery...

    Buy, Extend OR Turn In

Extending your lease doesn't commit you to 12 months. It's a month-to-month extension. Not only that, the two "free" months come first, and you can still cancel at any time after that. There are no 2016 Leafs available yet. Maybe in November.

California Insurance for charging station at condo

Just install a 240V outlet, and use something like EVSE Upgrade. Surely there won't be any outrageous insurance requirements for an electrical outlet.

Help on which 2013 Leaf to buy, pretty please

On my 2015 S model, when I use the charge timer, it records each charging session twice - once for when I first connect the cable and it communicates with the car and immediately stops, and a second time when it actually starts charging later on. Leaf Spy reports 580 L1&L2 charges in the 425...
