Traction Battery Capacity down to 9 bars Anyone else?

Yesterday at 36,000 miles the traction battery meter (far right white bars) dropped to 9 bars on my almost 3 year old 2011 Leaf driving in the mild San Diego climate. The range has dropped to less than 60 miles city/highway requiring frequent charging including the use of a nearby fast charger...

Battery Capacity bars increasing while driving -anyone else?

I have 33,000 miles on my 2011 Leaf and the battery capacity bars were down to 10 since last summer - but recently they start at 10 bars when fully charged and increase to 12 bars within about 6 miles regardless of speed or temperature. Now they routinely go to 12 bars every day after starting...

25,000 miles driven – no issues other than battery degraded

Reached this milestone on my 2011 Leaf with battery capacity down about 15%. Only 9 white bars show when I start but after driving a short distance the 10 bar lights so no loss there. Noticeable change though is how the battery holds charge. Before in cold weather (this model does not have...

Sudden70% Range Drop – Battery Module Failure?

I drove to a Blink station with 2 bars left and charged up to over 50%. Guessometer showed 46 mile range. I dove on the highway at 65 MPH in 70 degree weather. Suddenly – in the blink of an eye the range dropped to 14 miles showing only 2 bars! I checked the Energy Monitor and Carwings which...

Charging 220 V at RV Parks?

I upgraded the 120v portable charger to 220/120 V through evseupgrade.com. I have a Blink charger in my garage connected to its own meter with a low rate schedule and a second meter for household use. Looking at the 220V “dryer” type plug on the ESV unit I realized that the Blink has a different...

Support for Petition Camp Pendleton Quick Charger Station

I propose a petition requesting the Commander at Camp Pendleton to install Fast Chargers along the north bound and south bound I5, which would allow BEVs to practically travel round trip between the greater Los Angeles area and San Diego County. Currently several hours of charging time are...

    Future 1000 mile range Leaf?

Here is the breakthrough we have been waiting for. The short sighted article only mentions cell phone battery possibilities. 10X100miles = 1,000 miles per charge and charging in the same time frame we currently experience. Replacement possibilities by the time our current battery packs die are...

    Trip Distance Error

I have noticed that the navigation destination trip distance shown in the small window on the right with the general destination direction and a checkered flag is more often only showing the 1st leg distance and not the whole trip. I have had to add up the distances on the route to see what the...

SDG&E Introduces New EV Rate Sept. 1, 2011

A new rate called EV-TOU for Domestic Households with EV became effective Sept. 1, 2011. The new rate is Super Off Peak both winter and summer of $0.10831. I am on the $0.14 Study "X" rate currently with a separate meter so this would be a savings. I have requested a rate schedule change (off...

How Much Would You Pay for a Battery Upgrade?

The Tesla S will debut next year with 3 different battery packs: 160 mile range = $57,400 230 mile range = $72,400 300 mile range = $87,400 As all three packs fit in the same vehicle it is obvious that the battery technology to increase the Leaf range is already available. So how much would...

I have seen numerous post on this subject without a definitive answer so I used Nissan Chat to get the answer: Eric W: Thank you for contacting Nissan LEAF Consumer Affairs. How may I assist you? Electric Future: I am wondering if I can plug a music SD card into the SD card slot? Eric W: Just a...

    The Next Leaf Selling Points

The vehicle is in general just fine the way it is hitting the sweet spot of a practical every day vehicle with enough interior room, speed and amenities to satisfy the general public that is facing the reality of increasing gas prices. I believe that only 3 things are needed to significantly...

Advertising needs to be aimed more at Women

Several women have been very impressed with my Leaf especially when I showed them the interior space and mentioned there is no maintenance. These are very important factors especially for mother’s chauffeuring their children to school and activities. I suggest a video showing an average mom...

    Sound deadening in glovebox

It seems if there is anything hard at all in the glovebox, sunglass compartment or side door panels it rattles. This is especially annoying considering how quiet the car interior is otherwise. Placing a soft rubber liner inside the compartments would prevent this.

    Tint Band on Wind Shield

The Leaf windshield is very high and is only tinted around the rear view mirror. It would be a big help if the tint band was extended all the way accross the wind shield, especially considering that the shades are undersized. This would reduce interior heating as well as sun blinding.

This is from the Santa Rosa Nissan Dealership today 6/20/2011. I think this will help you make an extended warrantee decision. Note that they provide an authentic Nissan Factory warrantee that can be used at any dealership. If your dealership won’t honor it there is a number to call Nissan to...

    Reducing the Drag Coefficient

There are 2 simple things that could be done to reduce the drag on the current model. 1. Put wheel cowlings in the wheel wells to cover the exposed rough metal framing and sheet metal. 2. Replace the 5 spoke mags with a full cover mag. The Honda Civic Hybrid has this to reduce drag. These are...
