    Dealership Lies vs Truth

Wow! Premier Nissan in Fremont should be put out of business. I'd report the dealership to your California States Attorney for deceptive and misleading business practices, as well as reporting them to Nissan. I wonder how many other Leaf purchasers were abused by this dealership?

    12 volt battery dead?

My Leaf was not used for approximately 4 weeks. When we went to use it today, the traction motor would not start... in fact the whole car was dead, even though the car was hooked up to the 240volt charging system. I remembered reading somewhere that the 12 volt battery under the hood controls...

Thinking of Leaf - best package, recommendations, lease?

"Nissan's battery capacity warranty guarantees at least 9/12 bars for the first 5 years or 60k miles". RonDawg is correct. Pardon my mistake.

Thinking of Leaf - best package, recommendations, lease?

The Leaf is a GREAT car, but I'd recommend that you not do two Leafs (Leaves?). I think it wiser to have at least one car in your family that can do a spur-of-the-moment drive that would exceed 70 to 90 miles, which is the current limit for the Leaf. Maybe consider an inexpensive gas or hybrid...

    Future Leaf owner.

I leased my Leaf for the battery warranty reasons, and because the $7500 Federal Rebate is deducted immediately from the cost of the lease calculation. Otherwise, you have to wait to file your Federal Income tax return in order to claim the rebate as a tax credit. Note if you don't have at...

So after EVs take over, what's our next trick?

I kinda envision a chain of "jiffy Charge" shops. In my vision, shops would have space for a few dozen EVs and could do a quick charge in less than 10-15 minutes at nominal cost. This is different than a few charge stations at businesses or scattered around a city. I see "jiffy Charge" almost...

    Charging Costs

Mine is about $25 for electricity for the month of October. If you calculated the hypothetical cost of gasoline for the same number of miles travelled (at $3.25/gal) the cost would have been about $302... quite a savings per month! Its easy to calculate the cost of the electricity used by the...

Looks like im going to exceed my 12k per year mileage

Go to dealer about 3 or 4 months early (to lease expiration) to negotiate a new Leaf. Dealer should be anxious to do a deal, and NMAC may not care since the 12000 was not exceeded, assuming you are willing to pay or roll-in the 3 or 4 months lease payments into the new car lease.

    Amazing!!!

If you subscribed to "Carwings", it calculates the total KWh used by the Leaf for each month.

    Amazing!!!

OOPS... you are right, the calculation is $253 and not $275 in savings over gasoline cars. Still a substantial savings for using the Leaf.

    Amazing!!!

I appreciate that Missouri's electric service is cheap compared to, say, CA or NY. Isn't it ironic that the majority of interest (and subsides) for electric vehicles is in West Coast and East Coast states, when such savings are achievable in Middle America?

    Amazing!!!

I just calculated the cost of electricity for my first full month (September) of use of my Leaf. I used 309 kWh to go almost 1300 miles. Where I live, Ameren charges 8 cents per Kwh, so my total monthly expense for September was $24.72 compared to approximately $303.00 that I would have spent...

New(ish) leaf, broken A/C, bad smell

It's the mold developing from when the carpet got wet that is reemerging and stinks (apparently lots of Leafs (Leaves?) were delivered with disconnected drains from the A/C condenser and suffered the same problem of drainage water collecting in the car). Easy fix is to spray the area that...

Are leaf lease rates high due to questionable residual value

Simple: the Fed rebate and the CA rebate are independent of the residual value of the Leaf. The residual value is based on history of the sales of the car in the past and with projection algorithms for the future. Hence, the value of the car, say in two years, is not dependent on whatever...

Anyone w/Lower insurance since Nissan dropped the MSRP?

Do you mean $237/year for a 6 MONTH policy?

St. Louis Area (Need a EVSE installed?)

My son, the student electrician, has experience in installing Level Two (L2), 240 volt, EVSE units (sometimes erroneously called "Chargers"). He can assess your preferred installation spot in garage, house, or carport, and assess whether your electrical service can be used without an upgrade...

    Power Max 16A or 30A?

Its hard to make a compelling argument for a 16 amp EVSE over a 30 amp EVSE if you Leaf is set up for 6.8 KW. While the 16 amp EVSEs are cheaper, the up cost for a full 30 amp EVSE is not that much more. Considering that you are spending installation costs, why not have the faster charge...

St. Louis Area (Need a EVSE installed?)

My son, the student electrician, installs EVSE units. He will inspect your garage or home to determine if your electric service can handle a 220 volt line, and give you an estimate for installation if your electrical service is OK. Drop me a PM or email for details. We live in Chesterfield...

    Just had EVSE installed

I bought the AeroVironment unit that is sold on Amazon, about the same price as the Leviton unit. After considering all the others that are available, the fact that Nissan recommends the AeroVironment unit and that unit is also installed at the dealers in the St. Louis area, were the clinchers...
