Update on Nissan LEAF Battery Replacement

I looked at your map - there are none in Northern California, and all of the links in SoCal are for home battery sellers. Are they also leaf battery people? I have a 2011 that is is perfect condition with 34 mile range and would be perfectly happy to pay for a larger pack with full capacity...

    DIY - Replace Rear axle

Alas, I don't. Wasn't planning a DIY, as I didn't find a ton of DIY here, but when I couldn't find stuff I figured I'd at least create a start. The tubular steel that extends from the bushing backwards has a flange welded to it that holds the wheel assembly. The tubular steel was partially...

    DIY - Replace Rear axle

I noticed my right rear tire had extremely uneven tire wear (extreme negative camber), and I took it in for alignment. Turns out there is no such thing as rear-end alignment on the leaf - the entire rear end is a single unit. The tubular steel on mine was deformed, so the wheel mount bracket...

    So what is maintenance like?

What do you use as a power flushing unit? I have a Motiv and am trying to figure out where to get the proper fitting for the Leaf reservoir.

    Brake bleeder nipple thread size

Nissan Leaf bleeder nipple is m7x1.0 Installed Speedbleeders to make it easier to flush the brakes. Makes it dead simple to do. Bleeders: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CPCOB6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 Clear plastic line...

Nissan Leaf Accessory 3d Printer Models

I am going to see if I can get someone to crush-test it. I've had the car up on it for 2 weeks (Nissan parts is VERY slow), and I will take a look at it afterwards to see if it is cracked or deformed. Force is between 200-400 lbs/in2 depending upon whether you use a jack or jack stand. A...

Nissan Leaf Accessory 3d Printer Models

I made blocks to allow you to use jack stands with the Nissan Leaf jack points. I do not represent this as safe. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1119814

Pls clarify the "garage" jack points for Leaf -

If you are interested, my jack blocks: The tabs that stick out on the bottom are to accommodate a floor jack with a disk on the top. You can jack the entire rear end of the Leaf using a floor jack beneath the rear suspension beam, then put jack stands at the jack points. My car has been on...

    Brake bleeder nipple thread size

Anyone know offhand what the thread is on the brake bleeder nipples? I have to bleed the brakes, and I would love to put speed bleeders in to make it a one-man job. Also, I have a Motiv power bleeder for my BMW, but I see no real way to connect it to the Nissan master cylinder. Anyone know...

    Used parts

Repainted it myself, installed this weekend. Trivially easy (though I stripped one of the flare nuts for the brake line. Now the issue is that the nuts for the suspension bushing attachment bolts are no longer available from Nissan. Any ideas on a source?

It has been on the blocks all week, and I have shaken the car to try to induce a fault.

Thanks for the advice! I removed the rust, repainted with Chassis Black, and I am installing. More work than I wanted, but c'est la vie.

Seeking urgent advice about a recent impact to my 2014 Leaf

The dealer should pull for you on this one. If they say that the likely cause was the impact, then the burden is back on the insurer. Nissan, if you are reading this, you have to start selling parts, not just assemblies. It is preposterous to have to buy entire assemblies when single parts...

    Scary braking problem

Safergov will not go after the manufacturer based on your one complaint. The benefit of posting there is that if a similar complaint reappears, then the regulators can help get it solved. If the dealer fixes, and there is nobody else with the problem, your complaint will disappear into the...

Need advice on repairing my Leaf.

I went over a bump and bent the wheel mount on my rear axle. The repair was quoted at $2k. The rear end was not alignable. I bought a used part and am swapping it out. The positive side is that the rear end is trivial to replace. The bad side is that the suspension is primitive and not...

I 3D printed a set at home. Has cut-outs on the bottom for the top of the lift and my jack stands. Work great!

    Used parts

So I found a used rear suspension beam, and frustratingly, it arrived with more than its fair share of rust. I'm $400 in, so I have to figure out whether to get it blasted and coated, or whether to write it off and buy a new one. The crux of the issue is that there does not seem to be a part...

    Used parts

Has anyone found a source for used parts for the Leaf? I need a new rear suspension beam, which is around $800, and I am certain there are wrecked Leafs with that part.

Rear wheel way out of alignment - bent suspension component?

I think I am going to take this one to the dealer. Took it to a shop, and they said that the actual U-shaped cross-member that is the rear suspension is bent. Shouldn't be bent
