2011 Leaf Battery Replacement - sink or float?

I got a warranty replacement for my 2012 build LEAF at the start of the year. When I searched for its part number (295B0-3NA7A) it's a "2011-12 battery & components lithium battery". I've always thought the lizard pack superseded the original pack. When Nissan announced pricing for a...

    Reduction gear oil swap

Leafswe, this is going back a few years. In case you see this, do you recall how many kms that Leaf had done to get that sort of result? I've just passed 103,000km (64,000 miles) and I'm wondering if it's time to replace the reduction gear oil for preventative maintenance. Have any other high...

Anybody with 2011 or 2012 interested in upgrade to new battery?

Thanks, that makes sense already. So it'll be all or nothing in a few years' time.

Anybody with 2011 or 2012 interested in upgrade to new battery?

I'm curious to know: Any harm in swapping only a few of the modules out rather than the whole pack? Eg, suppose I don't want to spend so much but want a range boost, could I go halves on a salvage pack with a fellow LEAF owner? I might have to go down this path in a few years if Nissan...

A/C fails when parked in heat/sun

I've had it happen to me on scorching hot days and I'm aware of another Australian LEAF owner who has had it happen to his car too. I've got some compressor DTC codes with LeafSpy but haven't found a cause of the problem yet. Ours are 2012 build models. I feel somewhat better knowing it's not...

Noisy Air Conditioning - 2013 Nissan Leaf S

That sounds like the clatter of the AC compressor. Mine sounds like that too but I've had some front end repairs done in the past. Not sure if it's a normal sound, would be good to have a 3rd opinion.

Full motor cut out while driving

Hi EVDownunder, I tried to send you a PM but I'm not sure if you got it. Sorry to hear about your car cutting out, we once had a VW Polo which did the same thing and know how scary it could be! I also had a few HVAC DTC codes on mine and thought it was a shonky panel beating job (the radiator...

What part of the Leaf is this?

Looks like it's just the underside of the front bumper. Possibly the rear, I'm not near my car to check, but I'm guessing it's the front. You probably wouldn't notice that scrape from standing height.

Australian Leaf experience and Chademo chargers

Hi daaxix, There are no CHAdeMOs in Canberra, however it's a fairly small city and driving from one end of the Australian Capital Territory to the other is less than 45km (28 miles). There are a few L2s listed on Plugshare if you need to charge in public. LEAFs in Australia have been A$39,990...

ICED - Images of Offending Vehicles Board of Shame

Looks like the driver had to use the L2 at the Nissan dealer nearby as a backup. Hopefully they didn't have to wait hours to get to the next QC 34 miles away. Playing the devil's advocate: Looking at the photos on Plugshare, I can't see any signage saying those spots are for EV charging only.

Mexican 2015 leaf is actually a 2011 model

30 Volts and 68 LEAFs sold this year according to this site: http://www.goauto.com.au/mellor/mellor.nsf/story2/DFC0667CEA526D8DCA257CFC00027EC5. Combined with the figures from here, that's roughly 300 LEAFs in around two years of sales...

Mexican 2015 leaf is actually a 2011 model

When they were first sold here in mid-2012 they were AU$51,500 (about US$48,000). A year ago the price got dropped to about US$37,600 where it's been ever since. The EV market in Australia is tiny, there are no government rebates and at last count there are only 88 Chargepoints around the...

Mexican 2015 leaf is actually a 2011 model

Spare a thought for us here in Australia where Nissan Australia in their poor management imported more LEAFs (and Pulsars and Patrols) than they can sell. Our 2014 model are all 2012 build. When I bought mine last year it was already over a year old. Thankfully the tide looks like it's...

    Steel Reinforced Battery Pack

This was somewhat topical: My dad was driving the car yesterday when the car in front kicked up a metal pole speared it into the LEAF's bumper. He thought he drove over it until he got home and saw the damage. I suppose I should be glad that it was just the bumper and nothing more serious...

    Battery Replacement Program Details

I can't find any mention of this elsewhere on this site: Has anyone attempted to swap their own battery, eg from a wrecked LEAF? The reason I ask is someone here had to get their battery "registered" with a special Nissan SD card after their EVSE was struck by lightning while plugged in. The...
