Having bought my LEAF this month, I have researched information on the tax credit. All websites I have found claim they will provide everything you need to know. I have also read the IRS form and instructions.
I cannot find the answer to: how does the IRS know the LEAF I bought was before 200,000 were sold? My accountant said I should get a statement from the dealer. The dealer/sales person was clueless about any such statement.
I hope the IRS is told by Nissan all the VINs sold and the dates. So when I provide that on my 8936 form, the IRS will check it with the Nissan list, and I'll get my credit. But I would like confirmation.
Anyone know? Thank you!
