It's a good day! Just signed all my paperwork for the lease on a 2013 S Model. It's the same slate S that I reserved over a week ago that still had my name on it from the previous dealer. Anyway, this new San Diego dealer was true blue, and matched the $199 lease deal with a couple of small exceptions: The payment was $219 after tax (about $203 before tax), and the term was an extra 3 months (39 total months @ 1,000 miles a month instead of 36). Total out the door was $2500 even, and that was comprised of the $2,000 noted in the ad plus DMV fees and all taxes (however, to cover the huge taxes on the rebate, he took a greater cap reduction). Of course, the whole $2500 is coming back to me from the State.
The car was not prepped or charged yet, but I saw it, and it looked great. It will be here in a couple hours so I will take some pics then. The electrician was out this morning to install my 220 outlet, and the cable will get sent off for upgrade shortly.
Pics to follow. Best regards, Bobsexistentleaf
Hi all: The reason I don't want to say which dealer is that I don't know what really went wrong, if it was the salesman, the manager, or just a crummy system. Prior to this, I gave the Salesman high marks for his knowledge and customer service. This was not my actual reserved vehicle. It was the first S model received, and happened to be my color. So, the salesman called to offer it to me first. I think he was trying to do good.
I'm not too worried about getting the money back. I alway use American Express, and they do not hesitate to protect their members, and yanking the money back from unscrupulous venders.
Thx, Bobsnonexistentleaf!
it was the dealership. i worked at a few of them and it was not uncommon to do that for a favored customer or more likely, one who was willing to go full price.
if they looked at you as a motivated person, i would not put it past them to put you off a few weeks to get a fence sitter.
at least they didnt lie to you and say the car was scratched in transit and had to spend a few extra days in the paint shop (not a made up line...)
