whats on the Dashboard?

So there is some kind of equipment on the right side of the dashboard, right up next to the window. Anybody have a clue on what it is/does? The manual shows it in the drawings, but just ignores it.

Speaking of the dash, does anyone know if those 7 button spots on the console get used on some trim level? The most I've seen is 5: charge panel door, charge timer off, EVSE lock, traction control off, and steering wheel heater.

I'd wager one is legacy from the esv sound. and one spot for fog lights on the SL

Rear fog lamp for Euro/other countries maybe? SL front fog lamps are on the turn signal stalk.
