Tucson is known for its frequent lightning strikes during our monsoon season - July through September. Our place has been hit several times in the past 15 years.

Should we unplug our LEAF from the charger during lighting rain storms?

I remember seeing Nissan test footage of them hitting the Leaf with a bolt from a tesla coil (while plugged in), and the dashboard didn't even blink. Obviously they have taken this into consideration, so as long as your evse and service is properly grounded, I wouldn't worry too much. YMMV of course, so do what you feel is best.

edit: It might even be better to leave it plugged in during a storm. If the car were hit directly, it would provide another path to ground, perhaps preserving the onboard electronics IMO.

The test you're looking for is at 2:51 in the video below. The good news is that the Leaf isn't affected by lightning! :D
