...The head restraints. I had exactly the same problem with my Pathfinder when I first got it. It seems that Nissan believes the driver's preferred position is staring at their own knees. I implemented a simple fix on the very first day. I pulled the head restraints out and put them in again backwards. Since they are asymmetrical, the position now is perfectly comfy. Are the Leaf's head restraints similar? I sure hope so! ...

I'm pretty sure they can be reversed on 2015; not sure about yours. Do keep in mind the angle, while annoying, is intended to protect occupants from whiplash injuries in the event of a rear collision.

Thank you for the welcome, really appreciate it!

We will have to see about the reversibility of the head restraints. I certainly hope that they can be changed around. Knock on wood the last time I dented automotive sheet metal was exactly 48 years ago and I'm short and squat and have no neck to damage anyway.

As for the Zencar I would have to check with BC Hydro first as I have a sneaking little suspicion that they will only rebate Canada-purchased units. If they give me the green light, then I definitely will hold my breath and wait for Customs to do their thang. The Grizzly would be the backup plan to get the rebate so we will see what they say.

The Assurance tires are Mountain Snowflake so they are an actual winter tire. That's what amazed me so much about their wear and performance in the summer. I will also check out that tread pattern on the Cross Climates because you have me curious now. In my young whipper snapper days I was heavily into motorcycling and knew a guy who would cut his own treads by hand. One time he did an entire tire with Disney characters. It worked too!

The front seat head restraints are reversible on my 2019 also, but I did not mention it because the back sides are tapered so they provide absolutely no whiplash protection if reversed. I just got used to reclining the seat back a little more than I would prefer. I am about to need new tires so I will look at the Goodyear Assurance and the Michelin Cross Climate. There are some good reports about the Grizzl-E EVSE (made in Canada) in other threads on this forum.

You might want to include Continental TrueContacts on that list too:

I have on my ToDo list to contact the BC Hydro department for the charger rebates and see what they say about importing devices. According to what they say I will post the info here then go ahead and set up the installation.

Just looking at interior photos of 2021 models it does seem that the Leaf's head restraint is of a different design than the Pathfinder. I will have to see how it works when I get the car. After all there is always the brute force method: bend the prongs a bit to gain some back of the skull room. Where there's a will there's a way... to butcher a Leaf!

I have just gone through the Continental site and several others and I know I'm old and going blind but I can't see anywhere that the TrueContact tire itself is listed as either M+S or Mount/Snowflake. There seems to be nothing on the sidewall at all, and I've done a deep zoom on several photos. The Continental site calls it an All Season but without the notation directly on the sidewall, that tire is not winter legal in the BC mountain areas. The RCMP doesn't care what a website says, if it's not on the sidewall, enjoy your ticket!

Hello! I have just joined the ranks of Leaf owners by placing a deposit on a 2022 Black SL Plus. A lot of this is on faith as I just placed a deposit without having the slightest clue what the cost of the car will be as Canada has not yet released its pricing.
Lol, they just released pricing in Canada right after you posted. Prices dropped by about $7000. If you don't need leather seats or the Bose subwoofer in the trunk, you can save $3000 of you can change it to an SV Plus.

That message RE the Continental TrueContacts was for GerryAZ as he mentioned that he's looking for new tires

The deposit was for an SL Plus BUT I can certainly make a case for a downgrade. I don't want leather anyway, and the only real advantage was the sound system. I am sure that three grand at my local car audio installer can get a lot more BANG (AJR OK Orchestra)...

And sorry alozzy, misunderstood about the tires. Thanks!

EDIT after checking Nissan site for 2021 Leafs. The site states that there is a QVGA monitor in the SL Plus but not in the SV Plus. Is that in any way significant?

I'm pretty sure, based on the press release from Nissan, that the price drops is for the 2022 MY only, not for 2021 MY LEAFs. However, it would be very odd for Nissan not to likewise discount 2021 MY LEAFs too as good luck selling that inventory otherwise :)

Yes, I'm have definitely ordered a 2022 model but I was checking the 2021 photos and specs online as they are allegedly identical and there seem to be very few 2022 photos to be seen. The nissan.ca has only 2021 Leafs on its site so they're no help now.

There is no way to reach them by phone so I received a boilerplate email reply from BC Hydro about the charging rebates. It said not much of anything but it did state that a real email reply would be forthcoming. Let's wait and see!

Wow, I'm actually amazed. BC Hydro emailed me today:

The new EV charger can be purchased from the U.S. but as long as it meets the requirements for the program. The maximum rebate is $350.00 as long as costs for EV charger and installation are over $700.00.

They have 137 eligible charger devices on their site so there is plenty to choose from. I will go through it and check for the ones recommended here.

Also I'd like to reiterate my earlier question in the OP. Since the rear seats don't fold flat, is there a possibility to remove the seat bottoms to get the seat backs to obtain a flat surface?

And what the heck is this QVGA screen that's allegedly only on the SL Plus? I can't find anything about the difference in the screen to the SV Plus. Absolutely zilch on the nissan.ca or the nissanusa.com

Thank you again for all your information and wisdom. Much appreciated!

I am not sure what you mean about the rear seats not folding flat. Remove the headrests and the seat backs will be almost flat when folded (certainly close enough to haul bulky items because I do it all the time). The headrests will hit the backs of the front seats and prevent the rear seat backs from folding flat. Regarding the radio/navigation screen--I thought the SV and SL Plus models have the same screen.

Looks like the usual crap with government rebates. They have curated a list of over priced L2 EVSEs and only those are eligible for a rebate:

https://electricvehicles.bchydro.com/incentives/rebate-eligible-ev-chargers#single-family-homes

Fortunately, Grizzl-E EVSEs are amongst the eligible models.

This one is very similar to the Zencar:

https://grizzl-e.com/grizzl-e-mini/

On the nissan.ca website which up until yesterday had no hint of a 2022 Leaf it shows this for the 2021s.

Since each features list is additional to the immediate model below it, it leads me to wonder what is the difference between the screen on the SV Plus and SL Plus or if it's just an error on Nissan's side.

As for the seats, the photos I've seen all show the seat backs down to about a 20 degree angle. Again, it's no big deal as it's not going to be carrying anything but groceries.

I also noticed that BC Hydro seemed to have a preference for the higher priced models that when you check reviews are mostly underappreciated. Grizzl-E here I come!

The SL+ has, in addition to the SV+ features, leather seating, Bose stereo system, and QVGA monitor. Also, turn signals built into the front fenders much like the 2011 & 2012 Leafs had.

Ok, the confusion continues. Under Features on nissan.ca for the 2022 Leafs that were just added a couple of days ago:

2022 Leaf SV Plus
AM/FM/CD audio system with 203 mm (8") QVGA colour monitor

2022 Leaf SL Plus
AM/FM/CD audio system with 203 mm (8") QVGA colour monitor
Bose® Premium Audio System with AM/FM/CD and QVGA colour monitor

Not only is this misleading as there is only one monitor in the car but the QVGA standard is 320 × 240. There is no way that monitor is of such tiny resolution. Either the webmaster at Nissan is on the "earn while you learn" plan or there is something very very very wrong here.

Resurrecting this thread since the original post on Aug. 29:

"I have just joined the ranks of Leaf owners by placing a deposit on a 2022 Black SL Plus. A lot of this is on faith as I just placed a deposit without having the slightest clue what the cost of the car will be as Canada has not yet released its pricing. I am expecting to get delivery by late October - early November depending on how the Nissan runes line up. "

I got the Leaf... in March. Yes, I now have a wonderful Leaf and I'm thrilled with it but you wouldn't believe the reasons for the delay. Regardless it is a fantastic car and actually even worth the wait. Love every aspect of the vehicle, and I'm even amazed that just in my first full charge I got 314 km / 195 mi from 100% to 8%. This is with no hypermileing tactics and e-pedal off. I used the B transmission setting just twice on long downhills, but that's it.

The Leaf feels like it was built by a completely different company than my Pathfinder. The doors close with Mercedes S-class solidity. The build quality visually is dang near flawless.

Tiniest nit to pick? The big Bose box in the back takes up a fair amount of space and the audio quality it provides is good but not stellar. I'll wait for a bit to see if I get accustomed to it, otherwise it seems that a trip to the Car Audio Specialist may be in my future.

That doesn't detract from the rest of the car which is just totally perfect!

Congratulations on your new car! I am buying a used 2019 SL Plus Leaf (6300 miles) which is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday. I am very excited and can hardly wait until it gets here. The electrician is coming tomorrow to install the EVSE so I'll be all set, right from the get-go.

How did the headrest work out for you?
