Rear heating ducts.

I noticed on my 2013 SL that rear heating ducts are partly obscured by the carpet cut around the duct exit. The air flow is very weak and the carpet by sticking up block another 40% duct opening causing already weak air flow trap under the carpet. I will extend the duct another 10 in towards the back and secure to the carpet by Velcro tape. Right now most of that air is trap under front seat instead going to the back.Vents are located under both front seats near front of the seat. Best way to see it is from the back and moving front seat maximum forward. Use floor fan mode with maximum speed to see the air flow. In the electric car every calorie should be used not wasted, I also insulated hot gas pipe from the heat pump to the cabin. Bare metal to cold air outside is rapid -especially when aluminum is used.

I may turn that little duct around, with an extension, and blow the air back at my own feet. In which vent modes does it blow air?

Thanks. That's a BIG vent, for hot air that's only needed up front for most people! I may just block it, as I don't want to pull the seat.

Maybe not. The old Volvo Amazon (aka 122 S) only had rear seat heating, at least at first, with automatic transmission.
