...Renault could use some good news right now, since we just learned that deliveries of the little EV are being pushed back to 2013 because of a software glitch in the car's R-Link infotainment system. The problem isn't that you won't be able to play music from your smartphone, since the problem is specific to the R-Link used in the EV and how it relates information about the battery state of charge...

...Renault says the ZOE is designed to optimize real-world range under all driving conditions. For the driving range in "built-up areas" drivers can expect between 100-150 km (62-93 miles) of driving range. One expects that "built up areas" means city driving, and that driving range in highway conditions would be less...
...The ZOE will also be a more practical alternative to the competition with an NEDC driving range of 130 miles, more than the Nissan LEAF with an official range of 110 miles per charge. Renault says that will translate to a real-world range of around 90 miles in warm conditions, less on colder days...
...The Zoe EV is a B-segment car that, in Tavares’ own words, “is almost impossible to go back to internal combustion after driving it. We are confident in its success and impatient to launch it.”
Not desperate enough, though, to suspend its launch in order to make way for the all-new Clio IV that premiered at September’s Paris Auto Show.
Is Renault’s COO inconsistent? No, he’s simply a pragmatist: both models belong in the compact class but serve two completely different purposes. The Clio is a very high-volume product that can provide Renault with a nice profit during its launch period. The Zoe, on the other hand, is bound to lose money for years to come but will help establish its maker as Europe’s leader in electric vehicles.

1. The first mass production electric vehicle with prices starting from €13,700 ($17,903 US) incl. VAT (price for France, minus the €7,000 ($9,148 US) eco-bonus, battery rental from €79 ($103 US) / month incl. VAT for 12,500 km /year over three years).
2. The first production electric vehicle with a range homologated at over 200 (210 km or 131 miles) (NEDC standardized
cycle).
3. Able to cover between 100 and 150 km (62 to 93 miles) depending on driving style and weather conditions, ZOE has the longest range in its category. An achievement owed to its Range OptimiZEr system, which boosts range in all driving conditions.
4. The first electric vehicle that can be charged in between 30 minutes and nine hours depending on the power of the charging station (between 3 et 43 kW), from just one socket, thanks to the Chameleon
charger.
5. ZOE can be fast charged (43 kW – 80% of the battery in 30 minutes) on stations whose cost is just one quarter that of existing fast-charge systems.
6. The first vehicle equipped as standard with Renault R-Link, an integrated, connected multimedia tablet...
