Learned of the below from https://www.chevybolt.org/threads/22-new-fast-charging-stations-in-central-california.37318/ and a guy in a Bolt group trying them out before this post.

New Electric Vehicle Fast Chargers Now Available Along State Highways in Central California
https://dot.ca.gov/news-releases/news-release-2021-001

Says there are 22 new DC FCs across 9 locations.

I tried finding the one in Madera on Plugshare, to no avail. I believe the tool that "The U.S. Department of Energy has a searchable database on public alternative fuel stations in California and nationwide" refers to is https://afdc.energy.gov/stations.

I searched https://afdc.energy.gov/stations/#/find/nearest?fuel=ELEC&location=madera,%20ca&ev_levels=dc_fast and also couldn't find the Madera station, yet.

As long as they stay working, this is good news for those traveling between Nor and So Cal via highway 99 as it provides even more redundancy. Hopefully, I-5 gets some more love. For now, if I were to go on such a trip to So Cal w/my Bolt, I'd still take I-99, despite it taking longer (even in an ICEV).

Iowa city has a 2nd DC charging point right off if the highway. Double Chademo

Seems to be https://www.plugshare.com/location/294449 and I found it on the ChargePoint web site. Seems to be part of CP's network, so perhaps it should also go in https://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=31545?

As I replied in another thread:
I saw this Freewire unit via Plugshare's activity feed today: https://www.plugshare.com/location/308691 in Stockton, CA. Someone added a pic.

It's one of https://freewiretech.com/products/dc-boost-charger/ with big on-board battery,

Ok. This isn't EA nor EVgo.

This recently open site is Tesla Supercharger: https://www.plugshare.com/location/325508. But, it also has 20 Tesla wall connectors (unknown if they are set up to bill or are free, but I hear folks on TMC say they're gen 3) + 4 Tesla-branded J1772 EVSEs (which are free). The latter look just like Tesla wall connectors but have a J1772 plug. There was a thread on TMC about these years ago but I'm having trouble finding it.

Before I arrived, the Plugshare entry only had Superchargers. I've updated it to include the 20 WCs + 4 J1772s. I wonder if it'll soon become super busy. I'm on a J1772 now and there's a gen 2 Volt plugged in but not charging any longer (solid green light on his dash and Tesla's WC animation is stopped w/a stationary green dot).

Anyway, yay Tesla for installing a few free J1772s for the rest of us.

So is the plan then for Tesla just to add L2s to their stations.
I can't speak to their plans but the above site (https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/supercharger-san-jose-ca-925-blossom-hill-road-westfield-oakridge-live-24-jun-2021-24-v3-stalls.222725/) is brand new. That was no charging at all in that spot before. But in the process, they installed all of the above.

In the past, when Tesla installed https://web.archive.org/web/20190904010148/https://www.tesla.com/destination-charging, they would usually install a J1772 EVSE or two, usually Clipper Creek. But years, ago, someone spotted the new Tesla J1772 EVSEs.

I guess Tesla either threw in those J1772 EVSEs for good measure or the property owner asked for them.

The Superchargers at https://www.plugshare.com/location/166992 near https://www.plugshare.com/location/170477 opened up a few years ago. I believe the Superchargers, Tesla WCs and Clipper Creek J1772 EVSEs were all added at the same time.

Here we go. Found the thread about the first sightings of these Tesla J1772 EVSEs + another.

Why do you say "just" ?
Tesla does not have any obligation to you. Nissan does -- go whine in their direction

A couple of greenlots DCFCs in my area, a subsidiary of Shell Oil, probably some incentive for them to do this. Separate RFID card of course....

New York's "EVolve NY" program is starting to pick up some steam. This week they opened their 8th location, in Syracuse. They partnered with Mirabito in the Central NY region. Each new station will have 4x 350kW dual-standard chargers. They also have a nice cafe with comfortable, inviting indoor seating while your car charges. I am genuinely excited about the future of sites like these.

The tesla charging stations in Brattleboro, VT, which had 8 barely-used Superchargers a week ago now have 16, count'em 16, Superchargers. One Tesla there today. The cynic in me says that Tesla is gearing up to let the unwashed use them and pay, somehow,,,,,

This has been in the news a lot lately, actually.

Here's some background:
https://insideevs.com/news/523734/tesla-giving-away-supercharger-advantage/

Here's some conjecture on the motivation:

I don't see good info on how ChadeMo will work- probably a super-expensive adaptor? and what will the charge rates be? I am prepared to a) never use this option or b) pay through the nose.

My understanding is that CHAdeMO is closer to Superchargers than CCS, since CHAdeMO and Superchargers use CAN but CCS uses PLC for communications. Plus Tesla has already built an adaptor one way, so the other way should be easy.

There are already chargers out there with the adapter on-site so Tesla drivers can charge without bringing their own. Maybe Tesla will provide the adapter for you? I just don't know. But I presume it will be similar to how they give access for CCS cars.

As much as I wish for a 1K or less super charger Chademo adapter, I am on the fence if I see Tesla really selling it.

I do think the move would endear Tesla to the Leaf community, which might expand demand for future model 2 sales.

I noticed these two locations at West Valley College. Each has Delta dual-standard DC FCs.

I'm guessing they're new.
