i have this random metallic twang when accelerating from zero that I can't place anywhere.
Has anyone experienced this and discovered what it is?

Maybe the cotter pin/lube issue? I was having a metallic click (one man's click is another's twang, right?) on accel and braking. It got worse to the point that it would do it every time I pressed one of the pedals. Dealer replace/torqued hex nuts (where exactly, I dunno... something relating to the bearing assembly I guess), replaced cotter pins, and lubed the bearing assembly contact surface with some molykote77. It's been a week and no clicky. I've read where a lot of people are having the click issue. That's a quick easy fix for the dealer, so I'd let them try it.
Now if it only happens once when you begin a trip, at 10mph, it's the ABS system testing itself which is perfectly normal. That's best described as a springy twang click LOL.

Went for my 1 year battery check. I also reported the twang noise and was identified as the accelerator spring. Part was ordered (accelerator assembly) and will be replaced under warranty. Great Leaf specialist at Gwinnett Mall Nissan near my house, Also new QC was being installed and actually was operational at the end of the day.
