Hey Guys..
What rate do you charge your car at?? 12A, 16A, 18A, 20A, 24A, 30A ?

Not really asking what is the maximum rate your L2 EVSE supports but what rate have you set your EVSE set it at??

Just curious!! Any long term implications at charging too fast?? I hear not good for the batteries in the long term as they would heat up too much.

Thanks

Most don't let you set it at all.

AFAIK, EVSEs advertise what they can deliver via the pilot signal (https://code.google.com/p/open-evse/wiki/J1772Basics" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and the car's supposed to comply by not drawing more than that.

I wouldn't worry about charging too fast even at 6.x kW. There's been discussion here about C rates and, IIRC, it's well within acceptable. Someone maybe can dig up those posts. I don't have them handy.

edit: Found http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=333600#p333600" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=279458#p279458" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. There might be better/more detailed posts.
