Thanks
Even if LLNL has charging docks on campus, what good would they do if you don't have security clearance to get on site?
When I visited LLNL, I needed an escort during visit, even to bathroom. But then again the restrictions may have changed.

EV Charger Maps had a legacy station at the City Hall, but the site is now under construction presumably due to an upgrade to J1772. Would security or perhaps the facilities department let you tickle charge at the Labs? I think you could make it round trip, but the trickle would provide a safety margin. A recent trip we took to Walnut Creek took seven bars at 60 mph on the freeway, it was 43 miles one way.
What if you stayed off the freeway most of the way?mdh said:I live in the South Bay and I don't believe I can make it round trip to LLNL. 43 miles each way.

For example, Saratoga Ave. to San Tomas to Zanker to 237 to 880 to Mission (CA 262/238) to Niles Canyon (CA 84), bypassing the Sunol grade. Continue on Vallecitos (still 84), which is shorter than 680/580, and skirt the south edge of Livermore.
I'm showing my age, but we used to take 84 frequently from the Valley to San Jose, back before 680 existed. It's still a beautiful drive.

Ray, does this look right to you? It's about 47 miles one way.planet4ever said:For example, Saratoga Ave. to San Tomas to Zanker to 237 to 880 to Mission (CA 262/238) to Niles Canyon (CA 84), bypassing the Sunol grade. Personally I would take Mission all the way rather than Driscoll/Osgood/Warm Springs, though I'll admit I've never tried that alternative. I thought it would save a couple of miles and a lot of local traffic to take I-880 and CA-237 instead of continuing south on Warm Springs, Milpitas, Abel and Main to Montague.surfingslovak said:Ray, does this look right to you?
