They are on the right track with this commercial. No environmental doom and gloom.

Now if they'd just rent a helicopter and show some images of a Leaf cruising down the left lane of a busy highway, people would understand it is a real car.

I agree. Remember the "but we've never built something quite like this" commercial? It's a good commercial, but they need to have the LEAF do the things. People need to know it's a real, durable, practical, highway capable car. Not something that's parked and being plugged in, or something parked and being unplugged. Show it in action! Maybe even being abused.

In a recent interview, Ghosn was saying that as of the opening of the US facility, Nissan's advertising for the LEAF would be switching from trying to attract early adopters and environmentally conscious, to appealing to "the pragmatic majority". So this may be a start in that direction.
