Backup camera screen goes blank at the most inopportune time

My 2015‘s screen goes blank with a “Please wait” message on it for a second or so, when I’m backing up after starting. Most dangerous and annoying, as I believe it’s attempting to connect via the 3G network. That network no longer exists here in the US and I removed the module with the antenna anyway.

Can this screen blanking be prevented? Thanks!

I don't see that with my 2015, and I haven't touched the 3G stuff, so I doubt that is the problem. No idea what is or how to help, but I think you can rule that out.
