Hi,

We've bought a Japanese Import (many Japanese Domestic Cars are sold in New Zealand). The car comes from a cool climate area in Japan battery stats look OK (SOH, Etc.) but two cells have me concerned.

Screens from Leaf Spy are attached (I hope!)

Looking for suggestions on how to possibly improve the cells condition.

We have a EVSE that allows for adjustment of the max current so we could charge at a much slower rate.

Thanks in advance!

-Philip

Nothing wrong there. I assume you're worried about the cells that show blue? Red is shunting (part of the balancing process), blue is balanced. In that picture almost you're entire pack is shunting, which is perfectly normal under certain circumstances. In addition, you only have a 22mV cell differential, which is also completely normal.

As mwalsh said, there is nothing wrong with a 22mv cell differential. But, if you have just imported the car, it may be that a few 100% charges on 240 volts will equalize the cells even more. Until recently, I was usually seeing <15mv differential when fully charged. Just drive it and charge it for a couple weeks, and then check it again. One problem with now having Leafspy is that sometimes we tend to over-analyze the data. ;)
