    Here's one with another comparison. This time same color :)

    Thanks. I think it came out well too. I can't tell you how many people stop me and ask what it is. Many that do know it's an i3 say they didn't know it was available in red. :) The full wrap cost $2,700. It can cost more but since I didn't wrap the roof (cool looking CFRP) or the door jambs...

    I haven't heard of any new color options but perhaps the 2015 MY will have one. You can always wrap it like I did though. I saw one wrapped in blue and it looked pretty good also. Here's how it looks in a 3M Metallic Red wrap:

    Very well then, thanks. Here is one from today. We had an unexpected turn of events that left our two gassers unusable for a road trip my wife needed to make. Without the range extender we would have been out of luck. This is the reason I think range extenders will serve very useful until longer...

    That was a great effort by John. I don't believe I posted it here so thanks for the link. I try not to post to many links here myself. Although I think they are indeed informational, I know sites don't want people constantly posting links to their own content and diverting the readers elsewhere...

    There isn't a problem with sharp turns and the strong regen. The regen actually decreases the more you turn the steering wheel. In a very sharp turn, there is little to no regenerative braking. I have over 11K on my i3 and have tested this out extensively.

    Tony, There is nothing I'd like more to see (plentiful DCQC locations) but the reality is it isn't here yet. You live in the best area of the country for it, and it still isn't enough. It's virtually non-existant in the majority of the US. I agree that perhaps having options (PHEV's) may indeed...

    I agree Tom. However this is a new class of vehicle and I kinda understand the poor initial implementation. I know what they were trying to accomplish here was to encourage manufacturers to make an electric car that would be nearly always driven in pure electric mode, yet have the auxiliary...

    I'm inclined to think not Tony. It's been well documented that the sale of their ZEV credits generated a lot of much needed capitol for them early on. Plus, would Daimler have invested the 50 million at the critical point that they did if they didn't want Tesla to provide them with B-Class...

    True Tom, but if we didn't have CARB we might not even have EV's today. It's far, far from a perfect system, but we are making progress. Six or seven years ago you couldn't buy an EV at all. If you wanted one you had to build your own or try to find a used RAV4 EV and pay more for it than it...

    It's rated at 72 miles per charge without counting the final 6.5% SOC you would have once the REx ran out of gas. I believe the reason BMW reduced the gas tank from 2.4gal to 1.9gal was because that just barely pushed the electric range beyond the gas range for CARB BEVx consideration. One...

    Official BMW i3 thread

    The i3 was indeed classified as a BEVx vehicle. You may have been confused by some articles that were published that said the opposite but were proven wrong. That is indeed the crux of the issue, BMW highly values that certification. Obviously, the best solution for the consumer would be to...

    John Higham an i3 REX owner did a pretty good job of explaining his thoughts on the whole i3 REx situation, and why he thinks it should be changed. He's going to do a part 2 next week after he drives from the SF Bay area to Tahoe and the 7,000+ ft Donner Summit. It's pretty long, but a good...

    That's not correct. At a constant 70 mph the car can hold the 6.5% buffer. It can do so up to about 75mph on flat terrain. If you are going up long sustained inclines, you can have a problem at theses speeds running on the REx. Running at 70 mph on flat ground, there is plenty of power to push...

    Here's a pretty fair i3 review from a current LEAF owner. He took BMW up on the extended test drive and had an i3 for a couple days: http://bmwi3.blogspot.com/2014/10/nissan-leaf-owner-reviews-i3-after-3.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

    Tom, I agree if that was the case then BMW would likely do just that. All of the cars in Europe can do it so it would be no problem to have it here also. The problem is, this was never about getting a white sticker. No matter how much some journalists write that it won't make it true. BMW never...

    I haven't checked the site but yes OC lets you buy it or give it back at the end of the predetermined period. The OC with Flex was just created specifically for the i3. It's the same as OC and I believe all the numbers are the same except with Flex you are allowed to take a capitol cost...
