Leaf Quick Release Hitch for bike racks or cargo

I bought a 2" version which is still on my LEAF, even though my bike rack was 1.25". That was easily solved with a small adapter sleeve from Harbor Freight. Go for the 2". :-)

    Ecopia EP422 tires suck

I'm looking forward to trying the 17 pound #08947 Energy Savers, then, since they're two pounds lighter than the Bridgestone Ecopias and at least two or three pounds lighter than most of the other Michelins listed for the LEAF. According to the Michelin web site, the all-season variant of the...

    Ecopia EP422 tires suck

Oddly enough, I can't find any Energy Savers in "205/55R16" at TireRack. So the only information I've been able to find on them is from Michelin's own web site. Walmart.com also sells them, and America's Tire said they could get them, but they only list one variant on their web site and it's...

    Ecopia EP422 tires suck

That all makes sense... but which version of the Energy Saver (all season or summer version) would be best for maximizing efficiency and range, in an area like the Bay Area where (as EricSF previously noted) the car will never see snow, and will rarely see rain?

    Ecopia EP422 tires suck

I'm planning to return the Michelin Premiers that I got a few weeks ago from America's Tire in Mountain View as (not being LRR tires) have had a huge impact on the efficiency of my LEAF. I've asked America's Tire to order a set of the Energy Savers you mentioned above (#08947). I found a chart...

    New Nissan Juke Wheels

Actually, I decided to go with the (relatively new) 16" Michelin Premier A/S 205/55R16 91H on the stock rims.

8000 miles, front Ecopia's already at wear bars

I found a great article from Motor Trend (with detailed results from comparisons on the test track) on why Michelin tires, and specifically the Primacy MXMs, are great tires: "Whether on the track or on the street, Michelin has shown a dogged determination to offer the best tires on the road...

    Pimp your Leaf (Nismo style)

Anyone looking for six-spoke Nismo wheels may want to consider the (20 pound) MB Icon wheels from America's Tire. I'm thinking of getting a set of 17" MB Icon rims with Michelin 225/45R17 MXM4s today. I'll try to post pictures afterwards if all goes well. You can also use the America's Tire...

    New Nissan Juke Wheels

If I really valued efficiency over grip I'd stick with the Ecopias... If not then I want the MXMs and it appears that means 225/45 to get the 90H load rating. I'm not sure what to do about the rims though. I was hoping for something 20 pounds or less -- the Juke rims are heavier as are the MXM...

    New Nissan Juke Wheels

Hi Tony, Do you remember what load rating you had on your 215s? America's Tire told me the Michelin Primacy MXM4s in a 215/45R17 are 87V and the LEAF spec (probably due to added weight of the battery) is 89H. So I'm looking at 225/45R17 90H MXM4s instead (which are $181 each - yow!). I...

    trunk bike rack for Leaf

I don't think it's a good idea to use a strap-on rack on the tailgate, but YMMV. I would recommend using Bill Davis' Quick Release hitch, and using a hitch-mount rack. Video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJbZgezZS_U&noredirect=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; MNL thread...

    100 Mile Club, 200 km, 300 km, 200 Mile Club (24kWh LEAF)

Is it assumed that everyone in the 100 mile club still had 12 bars? I looked in the first post and didn't see any special mentions of people doing it with less than 12 bars (but given how far some have gone, I would think it should still be doable with 11 bars and maybe less)... Might be...

Amateur (Ham) Radio in a Leaf

Nice job! Thanks for the pics and the hints. You can get a dual band mobile rig for $300 now? Amazing. I can't remember how much my Kenwood TM-741 was (over a grand, like 20+ years ago?) but I loved that rig in my old Integra. I haven't done much radio stuff lately but it could be fun if I...

    Announcing the J1772 Hydra

This looks awesome! I've been asking EVSE vendors to do something this for several years now, to eliminate the whole "charge rage" (and cable swapping / car moving issue that was the subject of a recent Mercury News article). It sounds like you are in the Bay Area... Would you be interested...

Poll: Did you buy the extended warranty?

Can someone post a link to the "other warranty thread"? My LEAF will be 3yrs old in May and I'm still considering picking up the Nissan warranty (from Santa Rosa if they still offer it). I've read through a few threads and haven't seen anyone mention the refund if you don't use the warranty...

    Nissan Leaf Accidents

Just curious... Since this thread includes a link to photos of normal LEAF airbag deployment, does anyone have (or know of any) pictures of airbag deployment when a LEAF had seat covers installed?

Bad news if you own your LEAF

Heh... For $5K, I'd be tempted to buy a second LEAF and let people rent it on GetAround. I've already made more than that renting my previous car, a 1997 CRV with 100K miles. Plus my wife could drive it instead of her minivan, and I also have a daughter who can't wait to drive a LEAF (though...

    Nissan LEAF R/C model car

    If anyone is still interested in owning one of these, there's one for sale in San Jose on Craigslist: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/tag/4234506278.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

    Nissan shutting out third-party apps

Wouldn't this whole "third party app" thing and the pending policy change have been a great topic to bring up with the new "Leaf Owners' Panel" to gauge potential reactions before announcing it to the entire owner community? Yet another missed opportunity to "do the right thing."
