    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

    I bought a used 2010 Roadster 2.0 in 8/2013.

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Lost bar #2 today @ 16,622 miles. Almost exactly 6 months remaining on this 2-year lease. Until this hot battery comes out I would caution against a 2 year lease in Phoenix. Had trouble doing 50 miles RT all highway on Christmas Day. The good news is when this lease is up, a Tesla Roadster...

Update on Battery Warranty Enhancement for 2011 & 2012 LEAF

A few other notes (in no particular order) that I'm not sure have been mentioned previously: 1. Andy mentioned the values of each capacity bar and stated the first one does indeed represent 15% capacity loss, with each subsequent one representing about 6% (I can't remember the exact number from...

Update on Battery Warranty Enhancement for 2011 & 2012 LEAF

Except that one lasts from about mid-May to mid-October.

Update on Battery Warranty Enhancement for 2011 & 2012 LEAF

Your act is getting really old. If you want to know what was said at the meeting so badly, why did you decline your invitation to attend? You were the first person invited! There may or may not be a formal statement from Nissan. They are in the middle of a month long Nissan 360 worldwide event...

I'm not so sure. Quoting from this article:

Plans for replacement when lease runs out?

I bought a Certified Preowned Tesla Roadster to replace the LEAF :D The poor LEAF is currently on the outside looking in at my garage/driveway of plugin cars. I'm in Phoenix, so the LEAF has been a huge disappointment. The range is too limited and the degradation too great in this desert...

    Recovery from turtle mode?

I really wouldn't know either way, but these guys charged up a depleted LEAF battery by towing it: http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1060638_can-you-charge-a-2011-nissan-leaf-by-towing-it-apparently-so-video" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I imagine heading downhill would...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

I'm pretty sure Nissan knew. I posted this in another thread: http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&p=309431#p309431" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Here is the relevant text from that post:

    Phoenix metro-area

This really irks me. I was in downtown Phoenix tonight to head over to the local craft ale house. It happens to be across from Ecotality. They have 3 charging stations there. I didn't need a charge, but figured I'd plug in because it was across the street from where I was going. Sadly, the 3...

I live in Phoenix AZ 115+ hot summers - should I get a leaf?

I fully agree! I don't understand why some are so TMS averse with the current technology and in this climate. From that article I referenced earlier: or a summer in Phoenix!

I live in Phoenix AZ 115+ hot summers - should I get a leaf?

    And Tony has referenced this article before, but this researcher says temps above 86 F do the most harm to a battery: http://phys.org/news/2013-04-life-lithium-ion-batteries-electric.html#jCp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I live in Phoenix AZ 115+ hot summers - should I get a leaf?

Do not buy under any circumstances here in Phoenix. I personally would not lease either. Someone posted that 8 LEAFs in Phoenix were getting their batteries replaced this month because capacity dropped to around 70% after 2 years. You don't want to drop money into that kind of hassle. We do...

    Worst charging situation possible.

Scott, good point. In my case, I hadn't put gas in the tank for over a year, so I actually wanted to burn off the whole thing. I had a full tank and I did have to burn down to at least half a tank, then I know I could have mixed new fuel with the old, but I think the fuel maintenance would...

    Worst charging situation possible.

Plug in the LEAF and just use gas in the Volt. Last week I actually had to do a fuel maintenance burn (not an engine maintenance burn) in my Volt because the fuel had gone stale. It took about a year for that to happen, but I essentially had to burn the whole tank of gas. You have to burn...

    Phoenix metro-area

+1 jspearman! Well said. I just got the letter from APS and had the same thought. APS just wants to shut us up. We really have to advocate for solar and keep net metering! Arizona really needs to be progressive with solar, especially with so much sunshine, not the opposite. Arizona...

I just loss my 4th bar, could there be a 5th loss bar not

By that time, I imagine they will have more used batteries laying around and that free replacement could be a refurbished 9 or 10-bar one. Nonetheless, keep us posted. Based on what you wrote, sounds like a possible $10K + labor with a battery exchange. Try to get a sense of what that labor...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Well, I'm glad you are getting a replacement. 2 in Texas + at least 8 in Phoenix makes 10 known scheduled battery replacements so far. There are likely more that are not reported on these boards. Have those receiving replacements thought about what you are going to do in 2 years when the...

I just loss my 4th bar, could there be a 5th loss bar not

Mark, congrats! I'm glad you're happy and I'm glad they are making it right for you. However, I think we were intentionally misled. Nissan knew this was going to happen, but still made Phoenix a launch market and continues to sell the car here without a hot climate disclaimer. Below is a quote...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Then why can a LEAF in Seattle be driven over 70,000 miles in 2 years before losing its first capacity bar, but LEAFs in Phoenix with less than 10,000 miles lose the 1st capacity bar in less than 12 months?
