    The 62kWh Battery Topic

From the fellow who cannot figure out kW from kWh, and posts on the Tesla forum that the energy remaining meter is a GOM. Great. Cherry picking a report here and a report there to support your narrative is deceptive FUD. Look up a histogram of Tesla Model 3 battery degradation for a more...

    Battery Upgrades are very possible

I'm jealous ! Sounds like a tremendous upgrade How did you handle the uber heavy battery ? Your old battery is easily worth 2,000 as a home storage battery. Do you use Google Drive ? You can link to the photos from the drive. A little tinkering with the URL is required, feel free to PM me for...

    Battery Upgrades are very possible

I'm interested in the calc method. My inclination would be to measure the battery temp in the early evening and then in the am. If I know the average ambient then I presume a simple calc to tease out the heat transfer coefficient could then be used for measures that reduce ambient temperature...

Late 2013 LEAF: 2017 and Onwards of Battery Data

Another year, time for an update. Battery aging has slowed down, but our use has been markedly affected by Covid-19 and I'm not sure how much that matters. This LEAF will have her 7th birthday in October. As an American LEAF she has aged gracefully -- perhaps one of the top few percent and this...

What values of Hx is worrisome, if any?

You and me both. Nowadays I do the following: If the car says 5 temp bars or less -- I'm good since it means the battery pack is under 80F Over 5 bars I pull out LeafSpy. If the pack is over 90F I start doing only_with_a_LEAF things to cool it down. Oh, and my days of DC fast charging just for...

What values of Hx is worrisome, if any?

R = 1/0.7 in the battery. And those heat losses are proportional to I^2*R where I is current, itself proportional to power But for most typical driving battery losses are only a small fraction of energy use. Somewhere along the line in the life of the LEAF an owner might decide to only fast...

Fenix Power - Took money and but never delivered

As I understand things, the refurbisher buys packs (I'd imagine from wrecks, but the trail is unknown), pulls them apart and tests modules. They then build a pack from similar capacity modules that meets some marketing spec, perform some balancing (if you are lucky) and then it is sold to a...

Nissan Ariya to be announced for the JDM July 15, 2020

Those variable are reflected in the Cd. The other car variable in calculating aero drag is frontal area, not surface area width * height can be a pretty good approximation of frontal area but it is not exact and the error varies between cars. I'll guess that the main error comes from how the...

Fenix Power - Took money and but never delivered

I do hope people realize that they are paying for a battery refurb that Fenix only guarantees will start out with more than 9 bars. And although I think that at least some of the offers have free battery replacement at 8- bars, I'm not sure that warranty includes installation costs. It surely...

    Battery Degradation Over Time

I came across a database from 'Plug-in America' https://survey.pluginamerica.org/leaf/results.php that is comprehensive in its data gathering and has some 600 entries, although most of them are for 2011 - 2013 MY cars. Their data analysis report is informative but they set the independent...
