Anyone want to help teach my nephew a lesson??

My 16 year old nephew is a wannabe rapper. He has a Facebook page for his rap alter-ego "Drew T". He has ALSO posted on that page that if he receives 150 'likes' by Friday that he'll SHAVE HIS HEAD!!! My brother , (his father) wants to teach him a lesson about making grandiose claims and/or...

    15,000 miles later.....

I passed 15,000 miles on my Leaf yesterday on the way to work. For you number geeks, that's 6 days shy of 10 months. $470.06 total in electric usage = $.03/mile. At an equivalent of 35mpg, I would have used 429.85 gallons of gas to go that distance (I'll let you do the math on what that would...

    Report from 10K

Today, on the way to work, my dashboard showed this: I've had the car exactly 6 months and 1 day. As of my last electric bill, I am averaging $.034/mile since January. Last month my bill was down to $.028/mi since I have dialed in my charging into super-off peak times. So far, no issues...

    SignonSanDiego piece about the Leaf

An interesting article by Loagn Jenkins: http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2011/may/29/new-model-ts-change-way-owners-think-about-driving/ The comments are interesting, to say the least....although Logan got my first name wrong....he thinks my name is Steve.

    Links/Blinks

Here are two links to my network for Leaf related charging 'stuff' (they are 'live' links): http://jjhamilton.dyndns-ip.com:50000/ This is a link to my TED meter. The BLINK EVSE is listed as MTU3, so for Leaf related numbers, you can poke around under MTU3 and see what/when/where the power...

    Take A Break

Ok, so here's the scenario...no judging, please: I went out to my local watering hole, this being my Friday and all. As I left (and locked) the Leaf, I heard it chirp a few times. Recognizing that this was abnormal, I check the doors, etc....I found nothing amiss, so I walked around the corner...

    Blink Mailer/Poster

I received a huge envelope from Blink in the mail today. It was a 13"X18" envelope containing a Blink 'poster' (limited edition, number 58 of 150), a small blink sticker, and a note on heavy card-stock paper that basically says "Thanks." I'm guessing the graphics/printing/stock for this...

    Tire Pressure

I felt my range was dropping just a bit lately (although I HAVE been using my heater in the morning a lot).....so tonight I decided to check the tire pressure: Door-jamb label calls for 36psi all the way around. All my tires were at 33psi. I filled them up to 40psi (max pressure is 44psi as...

    World Eco Forest

Well, we'll know soon enough if Nissan is dumping a lot of Leaf's anywhere else in the world....the World Eco Forest numbers should reflect new cars on the roads of other countries.

    My Experiments With Turtle

I can tell you what the % is when "Turtle Mode" kicks in: I decided to see what would happen before/during a Turtle Mode event. Drove around my neighborhood forever trying to bleed off the last bit of juice. I finally cranked the heat to MAX to burn kW...I got down to 1 bar, about 5 miles...

Charging timer: start time based on END time?

I was told this is possible by someone in the EVP, but don't want to try it out when I need to car for work. I was told that you can tell the car that you want 80 or 100% charge accomplished by a certain time and the car would use that end time as the designator for when to START charging. IOW...

Charging Ability Requirement for Federal Buildings?

Apparently, back in the early 80's, there were regulations on the book REQUIRING Federal buildings to provide charging outlets for EVs. I work in a Federal building and my boss is saying basically "we're over budget, so we'll look into it"....which means "no chance." Does anyone know if there...

My car likes me too much to let me get out!

Ok, maybe not, but I have noticed that if I'm in Park, with the parking brake engaged, the car will not let me open the drivers door. I have to turn the vehicle off before the handle will open the door. This seems a bit strange since Park with the parking brake engaged should keep the car from...

My first commute to/from work in my Leaf

I have a 63.1 mile round trip commute to/from work, almost all highway, and today was my first full day with my Leaf. Here's the breakdown: I charged to 100% overnight, and in the morning I unplugged the car to move it out of the garage. It was outside unplugged for about 4 hours before I left...
