Most Efficient Freeway Speed...Is There One?

Tesla has created a more efficient motor and inverter. I haven't seen how it compares to other companies, but the new motor/gearbox/inverter combination resulted in an increase in range of a Model S from 335 miles to 370 miles, with no change to the battery pack. Tesla vehicles are also more...

Most Efficient Freeway Speed...Is There One?

Actually, 12mph. Reference: http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=101293 I used that fact once to continue for over a mile after hitting turtle. :o I made it to the charger. 8-) The drivetrain isn't as efficient as a Tesla Model 3, but Nissan has done an excellent job of reducing...

Best Way to "Unload" my 2011 Leaf SL

KBB said that my 2012 w. 101,800 miles was worth ~$2000. I took it to get inspected this month. Dealer said it needed $800 worth of suspension work to pass. Yeah, I don't think so. I picked up the car and took it straight to CarSense (similar to CarMax). They offered $1500. I took it.

I've joined the 100,000 mile club

I ended up selling my Leaf this week. I went to get it inspected. They said it would need $800 worth of suspension work in order to pass. I declined. The car isn't worth much more than that (about $2000 according to KBB). So after picking it up from the garage, I drove straight to CarSense...

Warning: Battery Replacement Cost Increase (now $8500)

The only trade-up program that makes sense - for both Tesla and you - is for you to buy a Tesla. Tesla isn't in the used car business and has no desire to do so. They offer only wholesale prices on trade-ins.

Looking for a cheap, used EV. Thoughts?

My 2012 Leaf is unfortunately no longer able to meet my needs. I bought a Tesla Model 3 to replace it for my own needs, but I had planned to keep the Leaf for my 16yo to use. But the battery is just too degraded, and it no longer has enough range to handle local trips in cold weather. So I'm...

The part where you said "Bolt" in response to someone saying that they wished they had bought a Volt.

Warning: Battery Replacement Cost Increase (now $8500)

Fool here as well. But unfortunately, I do feel like one. I really wanted to own an EV. But after 6 years and 101,000 miles, the car no longer had enough range for anything but really local trips. It won't even make the 30 miles to work one-way in the winter. When it was new, I could make...

SOLD! 2011 LEAF SL $4,999 - 63K, Replaced Battery w/12 bars, 87.61% SOH! New York, NY

Man, that backfired. Apologies. I was attempting to say that it is normal wear, but my comment severely backfired. The interior appears to be in great shape.

SOLD! 2011 LEAF SL $4,999 - 63K, Replaced Battery w/12 bars, 87.61% SOH! New York, NY

Take a close look at the driver's door armrest. It may look dirty, but it's not. That's just how the cloth wears on these early cars. Mine looks even worse than this. I tried looking for a replacement on ebay, but all of the used ones look exactly like this.

Has anybody replaced the front wheel bearings DIY?

I've replaced them on other vehicles, but not on my Leaf yet. I wouldn't expect there to be any issues. Here is the relevant section from the 2011 service manual.

How to turn off back up (reverse) beeping sound?

You need to tie up your fingers too, apparently. ;)

    $35k Model 3 now available

They now charge $3000 for autopilot across all models, including S and X. But this is now called "Autopilot", and is just traffic-aware cruise-control plus lane keeping. The no-longer-offered $5000 version was called "Enhanced Autopilot", and also included "Navigate on Autopilot", Summon, and...

Drivers door handles won't open door

I just had this happen, but with my front passenger door. It was a pain in the butt to fix. The problem being that there's no good way to get to the stuck part while the door is shut. Description of Problem and Fix I'll describe the issue. Here' a picture of the door lock actuator. If you...

    Need new battery, nissan sucks

He's lamenting the fact that it's only worth $2000 on trade-in. It sounds quite bad.

new 2019 E+ leaf battery pack no active cooling?

Additionally, another change that doesn't get mentioned as often (because it's not as critical as battery capacity) is the almost complete loss of regen that occurs as the battery degrades. For whatever reason, Nissan has programmed the car to prevent regen when the battery is this degraded...

new 2019 E+ leaf battery pack no active cooling?

You need to look through the old posts of this forum. I've been here from the start. I put down my $100 reservation deposit to Nissan. I bought my Leaf brand new in early 2012, from a dealer 5 miles down the road, north of Pittsburgh PA. It's been kept in an integral garage (heated and...

new 2019 E+ leaf battery pack no active cooling?

Well, I did purchase my Leaf, and I do regret it. Temp was in the single digits today, and the car couldn't even make it 30 miles. Don't plan on your car having anywhere close to advertised range after 6 years.

new 2019 E+ leaf battery pack no active cooling?

So not only does there continue to be no active cooling, but It looks like the new battery pack is still using cells from AESC - the same company that has always supplied cells for the Leaf. Ugh. If you like the car, lease it. Don't purchase. You'll regret purchasing one of these...
