Leaf bricked - won’t start or charge.

OK thx. Got the trick re flicking the wipers a couple ties to recharge the 12V. N Q1: Any other tricks that'll accomplish the same? Q2: Which of the following run on the 12V (and thus deplete it)? Passenger compartment heater? Front or rear defroster? Heater fan? AC? Seat heaters? Steering...

    12v battery replacement recommendations?

Leftie biker sez "I've reduced the frequency of external charging a lot by trying to make sure that I 'blip' the front wipers at least once per drive, or wash the windshield with them." Why does blipping the wipers once per drive improve things?

Leaf bricked - won’t start or charge.

Stupid ques I know, but when you put a charge on the 12V battery w/ a 3A-6A charger, should you disconnect the positive terminal, the negative terminal, or both, to avoid damage to vehicle electronics. Have been having prob (twice) of 2015 leaf "bricking" due to discharged 12V battery. First...

"Improved" battery chemistry; Is it real?

....... My thoughts exactly. I expect that Nissan's claims will be "mostly true", although at this point I wouldn't purchase a Leaf if I lived in Phoenix. If the Lizard battery pans out, going without TMS is definitely a smart move on Nissan's part. Ok I'm a rookie on this one; can't figure...

"Improved" battery chemistry; Is it real?

FWIW I (the originator of this thread) have no garage; just an open air parking pad next to house, w/ the 240 V charging station originally purchased for my Chev Volt. I have heard of people putting little portable fans under their cars when they charge on hot days. Any data on effectiveness of...

"Improved" battery chemistry; Is it real?

Nubo posted this link to a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qi03QawZEk That is one great tech presentation. Though I'm a retired R and D type, I never worked in any area of battery chemistry, and never understood dip squat about modern batteries. Learned a lot in 2 hr of watching...

Broke down and bought a second ICE car.

Yeah that's pretty much the experience we have w/ our Volt. All electric in town (on very cheap municipally-owned hydro). My 2-3 road trips/mo are mostly 80 - 150 miles RT, so the 40 miles on electric , leaving the driveway, is a significant fraction of the trip. When I put 1-2 gal of gas in...

"Improved" battery chemistry; Is it real?

A couple wk ago I posed my question into the Leaf organization; indicating I understood the proprietry issuue, but sought some indication that something was really being done beyond recognizing the prob and calling the solution "improved battery chemistry. Initially got a reply from a "Customer...
