I have owned a gasoline car over 20 years now, and I have to stop to recharge every 250 miles or so. I've never had a problem finding a station for that task & don't see why a battery car would be any different. Someday there will be as many BEV stations as gasoline stations (perhaps...
So the motor is equivalent to a 1000 watt heater. If the engineers used that to heat the cabin, instead of a separate resistance heater that drains the battery, it would extend range.
I was just watching Fully Charged with Kryten. Ooops I mean Robert Llewellyn (on youtube). The temperature in his Leaf battery showed 38 C which is 102F.
I imagine some heat comes off the electric motor too. Why don't EVs use this heat & inject it into the passenger cabin?

The flammable liquid inside Lithium batteries is why I won't buy a Prius or Civic/Accord hybrid that uses lithium. I'll stick with the safer NiMH technology.
Even in my cellphone I'm not too happy it uses lithium.
Given a choice, I prefer the rechargeable NiMH cells in my remotes...
I find it funny that Tesla had 3 fires & everyone talked about it (as if the Tesla was on the verge of failure) (causing stockprices to drop), but 13 Ford Escapes go-up in smoke and it's barely covered.
"Ford says the Escape SUV cylinder heads can overheat and crack, causing oil leaks..... it says the oil leaks caused 13 fires but no injuries." LINK: http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2013/11/26/ford-escape-recall/3749201" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Mazda is now claiming their SkyActive-D engine (lowest compression ratio at just 14:1) (and redline at 5300rpm) will be as clean as their regular gasoline engines. They say it is so clean, it doesn't need a NOx catalyst or PM trap, instead using the same catalytic converter as their gas cars...
I provided a link to an article I enjoyed reading. I don't see anything antagonistic about that..... the original author might be "antagonistic" except "the Judge" very clearly stated he is a huge, huge fan of hybrids and EVs. Maybe the folks here just have zeor tolerance for opinions...
Given the above post, I am surprised Toyota put lithium packs in the European & Japanese versions of the V. I am surprised they didn't stick with NiMH and 5 seats like the U.S. version
The Prius Plugin got a lithium battery, so I don't understand why they didn't put lithium in the V. I don't understand why we got a "special" version based-around the NiMH
The C uses a smaller engine (1.5) than the Prius G3 (1.8) and therefore gets a lower EPA rating on the highway, because the C engine has to spin faster to maintain speed. The C also has a bigger coefficient of drag (0.27) versus the G3 (0.25).
Well, yes and no. The EPA test (developed in the...
In my book calling someone a "troll" is just as bad as calling them an "asshole". Insults don't belong in a gentlemanly conversation between adults, no matter how much you hate one another.
