Yes, both I and the service center have done this and it seems to have no correlation to phantom braking. The only thing that affects PB is the software version…PB improves or gets worse from version update to version update. We no longer care all that much as neither of us uses TACC much...
No, not really. Maybe after production starts, early runs are reviewed by trade press, servicing protocols and networks are established, but certainly not today.
Glad to learn that’s the case.
Yes, I purchased both EAP and FSD with the car when I got it originally though I’ve not enabled FSDb. Soooo glad I spent the then $3000 for FSD vaporware.
LOL, no it isn’t too slow but it is an example of nerfing a previously-working car feature. To me that...
Too many things we don’t or no longer like about our 2018 Tesla Model 3 to consider getting another Tesla. Lots of things we DO like but they’re outweighed by the bad. Here are, for us, the not-so-nice characteristics:
OTA software updates that cripple features that used to work well...
Welcome! You’ve done a lot of interesting work to get your range back in these LEAF cars; I’m envious of your skills and drive (both personal and vehicular). I look forward to your future postings.
@EVPowers I do hope this goes well for you. Just sold my 2012 SL because of its 30-mile in-city range. I’ve been casually looking for a battery replacement after knowing first that I didn’t qualify for Nissan’s 5-year warranty, and didn’t again for the 8-year one despite how degraded my range...
Similar to OP, my 2012 SL (purchased new) delivered about 30 miles at a 100% charge on flat in-town roads. Loved the car as our gateway drug to EVs and it was still the most comfortable of our three. Even with low maintenance costs but given the silly range, registration, EV tax, and insurance...
After finally selling our 2012 LEAF SL in September 2023, we considered an Ariya, liked what the marketing materials said, and let our local dealer know of our interest. Also checked dealers up to about 50 miles away. Not one of them had any intention of getting any Ariyas, at least not near...
As repair costs escalate, insurers seem to more quickly total vehicles for what previously could and would have been repaired. For example, I can only imagine that any crack in Tesla’s single castings would be an immediate total by any insurer. Sadly, this could lead to more and more newer...
One option would be to remove the 12v battery and put it in your garage on a trickle charger/battery tender during your absence. Or do the same with the 12v still in the car with an appropriately sized extension cord and plugs for outdoor use.
Datapoint:
2012 LEAF SL bought new in February 2012. Sold last month (September, 2023). Numbers:
Mileage: 16,517 (yeah, after 11½ years)
Range @ 100% charge: 35 miles in town
Condition: TCU no longer working after 3G network disabled, all other features working well. Fairly large dent in...
Kept our 2012 LEAF SL from February 2012 through September 2023, so 11½ years. Purchased for $40k, sold for $2.8k. At sale it showed 7 capacity bars, had an actual range of about 30 miles in town with 100% charging, and a paltry 16,500 miles total. The LEAF was our first EV and we learned a...
Last week we sold our 11½ year old 2012 LEAF SL, purchased in February of 2012 after placing our $99 order deposit in 2010. The LEAF was our gateway drug to EV ownership and a then-marvel of wow, fun, and learning. We added our Tesla Model 3 in 2018, then our 2023 Ioniq5 late last year.
We...
