Anyone in Maui interested in an EVSE?

Trying to figure out what to do with the 2011 Leaf EVSE. Looking for someone enthusiastic about EVs, perhaps non-profit who can use one or lend it out for use? Especially in Hana area? There does not appear to be an active chapter of EV Assn here in Maui.

Any issues with buying an off-lease Leaf that has been in an accident?

I have a 2011 Leaf that was rear ended by a tow truck. After repair, I have no problems and still drive the car. I would be more worried that the car lived in Arizona.

    5 Years of Ownership

Original 5+year owner since May who just noticed the second bar dropped at around 30,000 miles this month. I do make regular trips in the 100-150 mile range, so I really appreciate having QC available with the dealership QCs being quite reliable. Probably will need new tires in the near future...

    PG&E / CPUC - Non-Tiered Time Of Use Rates

The all-you-can-eat single rate encourages energy wasters. Tiered rates make sense to discourage energy guzzlers. I guess evening energy use is still so low that tiers are not considered necessary until we reach a critical mass of EV night charging. SVP would do well to adopt policies that...

    2 out of 2 quick-chargers down, 75-mile tow home.

Mostly agree with the above, but an EV owner who rents and had no workplace charging will still need those random corner charging stations.

Wired Magazine - Request for Stories

In the 3+ years that I hv hd my leaf, I missed 2-3 phone calls or emails requesting plugshare charging. I scheduled one actual appt but he later cancelled. Just recently hosted a tesla but did not realize he was interested in an overnight long charge since he was a renter. Usually, the...

Nissan Leaf EVSE upgrade - Reviews? Reliable?

We keep our EVSE upgrade in the car at all times. It pairs up well with the Quick220 box so when we are on the road we can charge at 220/240 if we find two separate 110/120 outlets. Since we regularly go to a location that has no 240 outlet, this has become a mainstay to increase our travel...

    Leaf maintenance for leasing

Mandatory battery maintenance is based on calendar year 12 months and 24 months--not odometer readings of 12,000 and 24,000 miles.

Nissan Leaf as a rental car in the Boston area?

That's great that a Nissan dealership rents out Leafs without gouging. More of the dealerships need to follow suit. If u can drive off freeway roads, u probably cd make it. But if u can find L2 charging even for 15-30 minutes, that would ease anxiety. With a 2013 model and its 6.6 kw charger, u...

How to increase the *fraction* of roofs covered?

PG&E in California will pay 4 cents if you generate more electricity than you use. They don't want competition in generating electricity. Hence their policies do not encourage conservation of usage or enlargening rooftop solar systems.

Ideas: Solar PV, Radiant Thermal for Major Renovation

Although more expensive, metal roofing shd last for the rest of your life. With the PV clips onto the standing seam, there is no puncture of your roofing material for water intrusion. For us, we are into rainwater catchment, so prefer water without all the grit and gravel from asphalt shingles...

    Road Trips for noobies?

With all those QC stations in Japan and its cool climate, I just would not worry at all. Just drive and enjoy! Envious here, of course! Assuming they work reliably over there.

Leaf Quick Release Hitch for bike racks or cargo

It's been about 3 months or more since Electric4Me installed the hitch he designed on my LEAF. Not being mechanical, glad he did the installation. My review: GREAT hitch. No problems whatsoever. Highly recommend it to extend your fun and versatility. Wish I had done it sooner--sort of the...

Shaun, What's the story on the Big Island? Are there any EVs for rent there? TIA

    2011 48k miles - car won't charge

Curious why after the FIRST time you took it into the dealership, they were able to charge your LEAF on their Level 2 without any problem. Yet, when you took it to a public Level 2, it stopped charging. (Unless, you weren't getting the full story from the dealership?)
