Have had my Leaf over 5 years now. When i turn on the heater, the mileage remaining as displayed on the dash, usually goes down by about ~10%. Had been that for essentially years of ownership. For instance, if dash displayed 150 miles remaining, turning on the heater decreased it to approx 135 miles.
I took the Leaf in for recall service. Since then, the effect of turning on the heater is decreasing the displayed miles remaining by over 20% (more than double what the effect of turning on the heater was earlier). Now, for instance, when it recently displayed 130 miles remaining, when i turn on the heater, it dropped to 101 miles remaining, for example.
I have therefore 2 questions. (1) what is the typical decrease in miles remaining you observe if you toggle the heater on? (2) Has anybody else had a similar experience after this recall service? The recall service is:
NHTSA ID: 23V-494
NISSAN ID: R23A6
This is the description of the recall service:
ON VEHICLES WITH AFFECTED VCM SOFTWARE, THERE IS A RISK OF SUSTAINED MOTOR TORQUE IF A DRIVER TAKES BOTH OF THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS WITHIN 8 SECONDS AFTER THE CRUISE CONTROL, ICC, OR PPA FUNCTION IS DEACTIVATED ...
Thank you for any light you can shed on this!
