Call me a product of the 1980's, but when I hear "ho ho ho" I always think of the Fruity Pebbles Christmas commercial.

"Ho ho ho I'm hu hu hungry"

Nissan has been opening the RAQ's at the begining and end of the months, so I'm expecting a large number of RAQ's. Hopefully those with later than April handraiser dates will be able to RAQ.

and dont forget us jokers in Va Md and the other tier 3 areas

we have december orders too

first orders for many dealers here on the east coast, who up to now seem to be asleep at the wheel when it comes to dashboards and such .

EG the " sure what kind of nissan do you want to LEASE " when asking about a LEAF

Not to mention our friends and a few regulars here in North Carolina and one in Florida and the rest in SC, GA and AL.

I'm currently trying to get all the D.C. area dealers to make me their best offer which I'm currently blogging on http://aecn.timehorse.com/. So far, I've contacted 7 in Northern Virginia but only got a pitch from Nissan of Chantilly. Pretty basic stuff so far. Nothing out of the ordinary, though Sheehy of Springfield has sent some interesting information that I'm trying to confirm. I think what we've been missing is that no-one mistakes LEAF for LEASE in e-mail so I think that's why I've got more hits. Well, that and the fact that I'm a blog reporter that mentions the DC EV facebook group and this forum in every e-mail since those are the places I've been sharing my results.

Anyway, 08:48 on the first and the Dashboard still ain't opened... No surprise, though, I personally expect most of our east coast orders will be between Christmas and MLK day.

Has anyone in the new areas been able to schedule an assessment through the dashboard? I'm assuming everyone will need to either have an assessment or get a waiver before being allowed to order. I already have the waiver so I'm not sure I'll get an email about the assessment or see anything change in the dashboard until its time to order.

good job on the email timehorse.

I will try coaxing Fredericksburg to get set up. Last I talked to them they said they should be certified "soon"

I will tell them today, they need to do it "NOW"

I wish those in other markets the Best of luck while attempting to shop around. There is a fundamental difference between the later RAQ launches from thr initial one. Dealers did not have a cap as to how many orders we could take/get. So the more the merrier and discounting made more sense if you could obtain a significant number of orders. New markets will start with dealers hiving limits from day one. However generous, that changes the equation. Dealers who are now being solicited for quotes do not even know how many Leaf's they are going to be allowed to sell. This would make it hard to decide how much to sell it for. Seems like the best you could hope for at this point is to start the same way this forum did a long time ago by identifying who is at least willing to say they will not sell above MSRP and work your stratagy from there.

YUP different world now. hoping that since I have worked for a Nissan dealer for 20 plus years that will help me (but nothing is certain!)

1. Make sure you can access your dashboard via http://www.NissanUsa.com/leaf (call CS if you cannot and request help).

2. Request that the "AV waiver" be enabled (if you are NOT scheduling an AV assessment) BEFORE your dashboard is due to be enabled for RAQ. If you do not get it BEFORE, the RAQ might NOT get enabled. Call 1-877-664-2738, the LEAF Customer Service Line.

3. Shop for a "deal" BEFORE your RAQ opens. Call the dealer, ask to talk to the LEAF (EV) Specialist in Sales, or the Sales Manager. After they confirm a deal that you are willing to accept, choose that dealer as your Preferred Dealer (PD), and check the "Allow Contacts" checkbox.

Then, you will be ready for your dashboard's RAQ to be enabled.

Gary's steps can not be emphasized enough. I personally got hosed from not doing #3. I got a bad offer on Aug 31st and due to the way the system was set up at the time I wasn't able to get a different quote until Sept 9th. So I currently have a "who knows" receive date instead of having a Dec/Jan receive date.

And Kevin knows if he can get a deal at Pohanka, I'm in too. I have a Pohanka and Browns affinity the former for my pop's Lexus and the later for my long dead Nissan Altima. Klein's Tyson's Toyota is no more: it's now Koons.

But yes, request the AV Waver ASAP, have it active before you RAQ.

And thanks Mossy for your words of wisdom! Would that all dealership could be as customer friendly as you are; but that said I would like to give a shout out to Aaron at Browns Sterling / Fairfax Nissan. He's been there with me since I contacted him and very helpful!

As for how to go about this, this is the letter I'm sharing with area dealerships:

Dealership Letter said:
My name is Jeffrey C. Jacobs, and I maintain the Affordable Electric Car Now blog – aecn.timehorse.com(*) – as well as the D.C. E.V. Electric Vehicle advocacy group on Facebook and am actively compiling information for the www.MyNissanLeaf.com forums. As a Nissan LEAF enthusiast and advocate in the Washington D.C. region, I am trying to give each area dealership the opportunity to publish their best offer to entice potential LEAF registrants to select them as their preferred dealership with incentives such as quotes below MSRP or discounted service for other vehicles or free state safety inspections.

I know that we have already begun the December sales month and understand you may have already sent out quotes to potential LEAF customers, but I will be happy to continue publishing your offers throughout the month since I think most potential buyers won't have their dashboards opened on immediately anyway, giving them time to switch to your dealership.

Feel free to check my blog for the latest offers other area dealership are offering as I will be updating this periodically as I receive new lists.

If you wish to submit your dealership's special offers please feel free to send e-mail to nissan-dealers at timehorse.com or by contacting me on my cell at XXX-XXX-XXXX.

I have a spreadsheet of 30 LEAF-certified Dealerships within a 100 mi range of my home in the D.C. area, which includes dealerships as far North as Hagerstown, MD, as far South and West as Mechanicsville, VA and as far East as Cumberland, MD. I have a spreadsheet to keep track of everyone and I hope they can all pitch their store. Even if it doesn't cause a bidding war, I think it would be nice if people were aware of their options and everyone got their chance to pitch themselves on a level playing field.

(*) Actually, I forgot to include the URL of the blog in the first 17 emails! D'oh! I'll have it in the next 13 and then follow up with a brief apology for the 15 dealership that are scratching their head about what the heck the Affordable Electric Car Now blog is.

So, no December-Month RAQs opened yet?

I don't think anyone with a 4/20 reservation / December order month on the east coast (excluding TN) has even gotten the option of scheduling an AV home assessment yet.

Me neither, and I hope that doesn't delay things. As I said before, ask for the waiver unless you feel it necessary to go with A/V. Wait for the Leviton unit in January and take possession in April - July.

A few people here have suggested getting the AV waiver as soon as possible and my dealer did as well. It just takes a minute to get the waiver over live chat. I've already got mine. It also appears to be important to have your preferred dealer selected with the 'Allow dealer to contact you' checkbox checked.

Having the waiver enabled does not stop you from using/getting an AV assessment, quote, and even install.

With a very slight change in wording, the "AV waiver" could be an "AV acknowledgement", automatically required of everyone, saving LOTs of hassle and many CS phone calls.

well I went ahead and asked for a waiver on the chat and they said they would activate it on my account. they also confirmied that i will be getting an "ok to order or RAQ "this month!
