Phill, do you know how to request the software flashing when in Europe? I'm also moving in a few months and would like to have as much information as possible beforehand

hey ingineer

any update on doing this?

"BTW, There is a possibility I may be able to replace many of the built-in functions with an application that runs on LEAFSCAN™. So all settings and displays, other than Nav, would be viewable/adjustable on LEAFSCAN™, thus making it possible to at least ditch the crappy built-in head unit and install a good aftermarket.

LEAFSCAN™ has an SDIO slot that can accept a WiFi adapter, so it may even be possible to replace carwings remote functions (and add more) at least when the car is within range of an access point. For me this would easily handle 95% of the remote functions I use carwings for.

This will be a future enhancement, if possible, but not in the initial release."

? really want to ditch the head unit and those buttons left and right of it :-)

My remote access stopped working with my 2012 leaf. I think nissan turned it off since i still get signal the api is simply off.

Also got a letter about an upgrade but no price and i would only be interested if it remains free of recurring charges. Also not really excited unless they enable wifi access. I can add a wifi hotspot to my car for absolutely nothing. So would prefer wifi somehow i doubt they will add wifi since then you cant charge for it.

I am VERY interested in the wifi hotspot possibility. My LEAF is also my mobile Ham Radio station which I deploy for our local Amteur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) community. See our web site for info: http://www.wcares.org. We have an interconnected MESH system ( wifi using the Amateur Radio Service channels authorizations on 2 and 5 gHz, which permits WAN for FEMA related broadband traffic. )

Would be great to use the LEAF hot spot as an alternative to 20 foot tripod mount Ubiquti Nano wifi hootchie.

Ideas, anyone?

Not quite what i had in mind. If the leaf could use wifi i could buy a $30 freedom pop phone which comes with 500mb of data a month for free

Ie free data connection. 500mb is more than enough for the car.

My connection on 2011 Leaf 004163 failed as of 06/27/16. Called consumer affairs for help and could not get it to reconnect using my saved id and password. I have ATT signal at home and work but "the connection to the center failed" is all I get on pushing Carwings, carrwings settings, sign in, send id and password". I have a battery case coming up for BBB hearing June 10 so don't want to risk resetting anything before that and possibly losing all my saved data.

Yeah best i can tell nissan has turned it off. The car itself still seems to connect on its own but i cant send any commands to it.

Is there an alternative way to turn the hvac on electronically? I can leave a freedom pop phone in the car which has a data connection and the phone has wifi and bluetooth.

Can i activate the hvac via the obd connection?

Assuming yes to that is there a way to keep the obd powered up when the car is off.

I put 500 miles a week on the car minimum so no concerns of draining any battery :-)

All i want to do is be able to turn on the ac or heat remotely while connected to umbilical power.. I dont care about battery level etc..

I got a letter from nissan saying stay tuned for a replacement option but unless its cheap and includes wifi or otherwise free service i wont be interested.

I discovered something--when I plug in a portable battery unit (jump start size) to the accessory inlet, the nav screen lights up, even when the car is off and no EVSE connected. The menus look normal. It will not allow access to the charging and climate control timers though, pushing those buttons it responds with need to turn car on.

I was able to get connected again by disconnecting and reconnecting the 12V battery and signing in. So, good for maybe another 6 months until the 2G goes down.
