when would we normally see news from Nissan on the next model year Leaf? November ? December?
or is that to soon this year?

you figure they might start making 2016's sometime between January and May ?

The 2015 Just came out. You realize this is 2014 right now. Why would they make a 2016 car in Jan of 2015 let alone even announce it? I guess they could also announce the 2017 models in July then.

As a datapoint, according to the door sticker, my 2013 was built in December of 2013. Yet, the MY2015 came out in July of 2014. That implies the MY2014 wasn't being built that long (or they were building MY2013 and MY2014 at the same time).

well we found out about the 2015 in April of 2014 and they have been building them since may or june

so..... you figure I guess we might hear about the 2016 in april, may or june, and see them by JUly or august on dealers lots
not that I am expecting any huge changes for 2016

The 2011s didn't make it out the door until late Dec, so the '12s, '13s and '14s were later than "normal" as well. It sounds like with the '15s they've finally gotten LEAF in sync with the rest of their lineup.

My hopes for the 2016:

* Better frontal offset crash test results
* Increased battery size/range

If they don't have increased range I'll likely get a Soul EV if it's available (my lease is up next Fall).

The real changes aren't expected until the 2017 model, right? (which we would hear about in April 2016?)

In other words, another year and a half with the same old same old leaf until we even hear about an improved model.

My 2012 was built in October 2011 and was not even close to being the first off the boat.

My guess is that the 2015 model was introduced early — leading to a shorter run of 2014s — because the lizard battery was ready to be formally introduced and there was no need to wait until later this year.
